Can someone tell me how to change the character names for campaign? Because when I try to make a perfect assassin or whatever I cant figure out the name thing when its more than one word. e.g. Charax of Gythium

Have a look at other 'of' names in data/descr_names.txt and data/text/names.txt and descr_strat.txt and follow their example. A name needs to be in both descr_names.txt (the internal name for the game to recognise) and in text/names.txt (the visible name you see on screen). Basically, descr_names needs to be a single word but text/names.txt can have a space in it.

OK let me rephrase that. Is there any way to completely get rid of the surnames for a faction?

Never tried it, but try removing all the surnames for that faction in descr_names and descr_strat.

Well I tried that. I removed all the surnames for the greek_cities in descr_names and descr_strat. But I got a CTD. I could of done wrong though. Who knows.

Well I tried taking the surnames out of descr_strat and descr_names again. It didn't work. Then I tried taking them out of the descr_names_lookup. Didn't work. Well, I'm stumped.

Well, don't know what to say then. I took the surnames for the Julii out of descr_names (including the line saying 'surname'). Took out the surnames from descr_strat for them (all of them - had to get rid of one of the kids through as he shared the first name with a spy.
And bingo, no more surnames.
