I've gone and signed up for something called Cambrian Patrol. Just wondering if anyone's heard of it...
Just over a month to go, and a lot of training ahead (but will it be enough...)

As Noel Coward said, ' I like long walks, especially when taken by people who annoy me'.
Good luck BTW, it looks tough!

From what I understand this patrol is only open to soldiers, I was just curious as to what unit you are in.
At first I was like "55kms in 2 days? GAH! Easy!"
Then I saw the bit about swimming rivers in full kit and stuff
BTW top walking tip when using OS maps. If you want to guesstimate how long it will take to walk somewhere, 1 square (1km) = approx 15 mins.
I'm planning to walk the length of Hadrians Wall next year - 86 miles in 6 days. Was gunna do it this year but circumstances meant I never got round to it.
"I request permanent reassignment to the Gallic frontier. Nay, I demand reassignment. Perhaps it is improper to say so, but I refuse to fight against the Greeks or Macedonians any more. Give my command to another, for I cannot, I will not, lead an army into battle against a civilized nation so long as the Gauls survive. I am not the young man I once was, but I swear before Jupiter Optimus Maximus that I shall see a world without Gauls before I take my final breath."
Senator Augustus Verginius
Yeah... I'm not looking forwards to that bit, or indeed quite a lot of the rest of it. I am, however, looking forwards to the colossal piss-up I'm going to have when I recover (some time next year).Originally Posted by Mount Suribachi
