Default Prom's Roman pack for EB?

    Salve EB team,

I've downloaded and take a look Prom's pack about Romans. It's simply amazing an it has everything about them. Centurions, Vexillarius, Standart carriers and rest of party even Italic support troops.. .

Do you think to add them to EB for upcoming 0.8 and future releases? It'd be magnificent boost for Romani

By the way kudos to Prom for his excellent work.

We will be including some of Prom's roman officers, but we have our own plans for additional roman and italic units.

I don't want to be misunderstood. I have no idea on the status of italian allies, I just meant that we wouldn't be using Prom's units.

the inclusion of more auxillia units doesnt really mean latin or other italic allies, though a little more depth into the various alae units would be nice in future versions. I would also like to see some sort of citizenship level in the various italian cities, possibly constructable buildings with certain forms of government to grant either voting rights or in some cases full Roman citizenship.

    I just want to learn:

1- Do you think to replace old proms work in EB (romani) with the new serie. Coz new Polybian and Marian skins are very good.
2- My question to other EB users, are they compatible with EB?

    Thanks in advance,
    LL

models and skins of units can easily be changed by pasting them over the old ones or adding them and editing the dmb. Ofcourse you might need to extract the pak files.

-Prometheus is using high res textures for his new roman pack, we however generally limit ourself to have only the 256x256 resolution for improved performance at weaker systems, so even the newer skins won't look as good in EB as in Res Gestae. The only execption are the officers.

-The current heavy samnite infantry model in EB is from Prometheus and we will use the pedites extraordinarii skin from the new pack in 0.8 Also the augustan legionary cohort skin was replaced with a new version. Most of our units share models with others or were especially adjusted for our timeframe, while many Res Gestae units are beyond it too, so we simply can't use that many of the current pack. I think the new polybian units are mostly the same as we have now, except the better textures. Also with the model limit we can only have a set of the most important officers and sadly can't have the decurion, vexilifer, cornicen etc.

-0.8 will have a lot new roman cavalry. The equites extraordinarii, various late republican auxilia variants, and a regular augustan era Ala unit, just two gaps will be left to be filled in future versions (another italic allied cav. unit and early imperi horse archer Ala)

I guess between 75-100 new models (reskinned and complete new) will be in 0.8.

What, so you mean that the unit skins could be better? Awww.....

Why don't you have a pack for the high-res skins so that if you know your computer would work, you can extract it?

If I was smart, I would have a witty punchline in this sig that would make everyone ROTFL.

    I'm not smart.

Making a texture in 256x256 looks much, much better than if the texture is 512x512 and converted to 256x256. So this means double the work for our texture artists. I doubt we'll ever see that.

We've always said we will have Italian allies. It was just a matter of finding the time to make them.

75-100 new models translates to at least 180-200 new units, by the way.
