Thread: Anyone else see this crazy add for a protest?

  1. #1

Default Anyone else see this crazy add for a protest?

Now anti Bush adds pop up sometimes... but this one was a little over the top. One of my teachers showed us this today in class.

http://www.worldcantwait.net/ (click the add on the right it's the one we saw)

Anyone think this is right on? Or is it bit over the top. Personally if a significant protest gets started here on oct 5th I'll try and join the counter protest if there is one.

    I found this funny:

Katrina? Blame the natural disasters on Bush! It's all his fault!

(nevermind that we are having a dull hurricane season this year. what happened to "impending doom". lol)

EDIT: I like it when liberals speak their minds. Whenever they openly speak out, it shows everyone else what complete idiots they are.

I don't want to be in any way associated with these people, but when people say they blame Katrina on Bush, you could say they mean they don't like the way he handled the crisis, yes?

Sure... the only thing that's necessarily liberal about it is presenting ideas for discussion and allowing people to think about it freely. It would be better to not tell the high schoolers about what is going on around them, stupid teachers.

Somehow people seem to forget that America has been a Liberal Democracy since we were made a nation...

Why are they lumping something awesome like theocracy in with all that other horrible crap?

Plus that is the only thing on that list that Bush is not responsible for causing and/or screwing up.

They need better proofreaders before publishing whacky ads like that.

Actually, some people truly believe that Bush is responsible for last year's hurricane season.

Even if this was meant as you say, it makes it just as ridiculous. Bush is so inept that he can't organize to meet the needs of a huge natural disaster crisis. But yet he is brilliantlly capable of decieving the public into a fascist theological regime with implications of global conquest.

The fact that they put Katrina in against a backdrop of potential militaristic dictatorship is hilarious.

Uh, I bet these people also believe the Earth is round. Does that mean this belief doesn't hold water either?

I personally always got the impression that FEMA botched up (very badly) in the Katrina aftermath, and that Bush had comparatively little influence in the matter- yet he still didn't manage to stay clear of blame, wich could also be taken as a sign of political ineptness.

Mind you, don't mind me. I'm just a twisted mind trying to toy with people's mind.

Extremists are everywhere. If you can make connections between these protestors and liberals in general, can I lump every conservative on the same level as the anorexic Coulter?

By the way, teachers present controversial stuff in school is actually very good. You adults around here complain all the time that kids "don't vote," "don't care about politics," and all; but certainly blocking them from, say, a high school setting is one cause of that! I hope one day to be able to have teachers talk about partisan issues without having to stop, sigh, and say to students that hopefully they will not offend the students which will lead to parents contacting, complaining, and perhaps suing them, and then starts talking in a most careful manner possible.

As long as they don't resort to propaganda, of course. Some teachers just go on propaganda mode without knowing. And you know what? The only propaganda I've heard is distinctly right-wing (calling "the idiocy of the Sixties")...

    Probably true.

However, to be fair, there were miscues and screw-ups at all levels of government in response to Katrina and the flooding of NO is the fault of 3 decades worth of negligence (adn some malfeasance).

    Meet our resident Moses.
Let's not be insulting Moses here.

Anyways, this is just an example of the far-left whacky fringe. They're filled with so much hatred for Bush that all they do is shout buzzwords and vile.

These people seem to hate the dems, who are certainly not Bush-lite, almost as much as Bush. Every issue becomes a matter of survival to them, blown beyond all recognition. They can't stand individual states choosing for themselves on abortion or other topics. They want a ultra-liberal regime.

Yeah, they have those posters all over the University of Hawaii campus. They had a small rally here last week which was a joke and a half. I'm really pissed though because Oct 5th is my birthday and for my Bday I'd like it if there weren't any damn protests.

Think I'll wear my "Danger Stay Back! OIF3 Iraq" tshirt that day. Bunch friggin hippies!

Four stage strategy from Yes, Minister:
Stage one we say nothing is going to happen.
Stage two, we say something may be about to happen, but we should do nothing about it.
Stage three, we say that maybe we should do something about it, but there's nothing we can do.
Stage four, we say maybe there was something we could have done, but it's too late now.

Oh, the irony in this statement...

About the warping of the word liberal in US politics
We are all aware that the senses can be deceived, the eyes fooled. But how can we be sure our senses are not being deceived at any particular time, or even all the time? Might I just be a brain in a tank somewhere, tricked all my life into believing in the events of this world by some insane computer? And does my life gain or lose meaning based on my reaction to such solipsism?

Oh you think that is bad? Ever wondered why euro kids dislike america so much? Kindly allow me to translate a few quotes from dutch schoolbooks,

"Terwijl de Nederlandse politie terughoudend is in het gebruik van geweld, lijkt bij de Amerikaanse politie 'eerst schieten, dan praten' het motto." (Impuls, maatschappijleer)"

"While dutch police is reluctant to use deadly force, while in america it's shoot first talk later."

"The americans send half a million soldiers to annihilate communism(in the dutch it's stronger). When americans heard that a village gave shelter to vietcong the burned the village and killed everyone."

    Cold War!

"Het grootste succes van Gorbatsijov was dat hij een einde maakte aan de Koude Oorlog." (MeMo, geschiedenis)"

"Gorbatsjov greatest succes was ending the cold war." (guess who isn't mentioned)

Those are just a few, I will spare you the extreme leftist propaganda that is hammered into the kids about dutch issues, it hurts too much.

    Do Americans have irony?

Summing up an entire and very disparate movement like that is a fairly, well, idiotic thing to do.

We call him Gorbachev around here (or Gorbachov)

Besides, aren't we a bit quick to judge? ceasar010 only said he saw the ad, not that the teacher said "OK class, look at this ad. Every word of it is the truth, and anybody who doesn't protest on October 5th will be placed in detention". The teacher was probably just showing them so they could make their own decision about it. In fact, the teacher could have been mocking the ad. We don't know.

I think the ad is detrimental to the cause. It sounds irrational, although I agree with the views.

I think the protest is a great idea. I hope to streets are swamped with people who want to throw out the Bush Regime. They did it to Mussolini too late.

In a history or politics class, this has justification for being presented if it is likely to be imporatant or at least interesting and related.

Okay, Frag, I am officially impressed. This beats anything I've seen in the USA despite the efforts of the largely left-wing education establisment.

I suppose those texts say that in WWII the USA would have ignored Netherlands entirely if it weren't for Monty and it was all our fault anyway because we didn't get the Eindhoven [sic?] crossing intact.

Do the teachers balance out? (ie. do you have an ultra right teacher at all) - in my school the teachers are all biased - however they seems to cancel each other out... and they would never make us learn the material from there political / ideological point of view (ie. i have a jewish RS teacher who supports Israel, but takes the responsibillity and provides a fair assesment of the Israel-Palestine conflict)
