Default Census Bureau loses hundreds of laptops

    The full story is here.

I mean, who ever heard of "weak" passwords, or breaking encryption (or bypassing it) ?
Anybody wanna bet $5 that whenever any of these are recovered, the "experts" will claim with utter certainty that sensitive data wasn't accessed ?
    meh...

With all the information security and all the paronoia concerning privacy, it's simply amazing that people don't take proper measures to assure accountability.

A good reason not to fill out the 'long form'. Or even most of the short form, I'd guess.

The poorest man may in his cottage bid defiance to all the forces of the Crown. It may be frail; its roof may shake; the wind may blow through it; the storm may enter; the rain may enter; but the King of England cannot enter – all his force dares not cross the threshold of the ruined tenement! - William Pitt the Elder

lol, sadly, you do have a point.
It is however a bit annoying that these things seem to happen more often than I'd personally feel comfortable with.
Not much to comment on this, anyway. I just posted it because I thought it would be an interesting bit of information. And yeah, Crazed Rabbit, I agree - fill as little of them forms as possible, when you can...

    I like therapy.

Reinvent the British and you get a global finance center, edible food and better service. Reinvent the French and you may just get more Germans.
