Thread: Is it worth me starting a new campaign in 0.74?

  1. #1

Question Is it worth me starting a new campaign in 0.74?

I have currently just finished my Quadartism campaign on 0.74 and I was wondering if it was worth starting another one - would I have time to finish it before 0.8 is released?

How far away is 0.8 anyway? I am starting to get impatient... I desperately want to find out what faction X will be, I want to play as barbarians (I have Gold patched down to 1.2) and I want to meet the new units.

Hey hey, we still have looots of work to do, so I guess you should start a new campaign.
Ja mata, TosaInu. You will forever be remembered.

As for the first bit: IMO it's always worth starting another campaign because the first stage is the most exicting of it.

For the last bit: we are all impatient, I think, and therefore there isn't any better thing to do than playing as much of EB as is possible now, if only for having something better to do than being desparately impatient about something you can't speed up. There always is of course a better reason, that is that EB is just wonderful as it is now already, so there is no reason not to play it because of the fact that the next build is X months, or X days away from being released...

I'd say enjoy your next campaign. Btw haven't you tried yet one of the Greek factions, if not, be sure to - they are my favourites.

Question Re: Is it worth me starting a new campaign in 0.74?

Ok, i'll start another campaign, as the Makedonians (a Greek faction like you said Tellos Athenaios). Shame EB 0.8 is going to take so long, I want to be a big hairy democratic barbarian! Will there actually be an approximate release date for 0.8 in the near future and if there isn't is their at least some form of estimate of when it will be complete?

I personally am glad to hear it will be a bit longer for .8 - I'd hate to have to quit my Casse campaign just when it's gotten twice as interesting...so yeah! Take all the time ya'll need, I'm sure it will be well worth the wait!

From what I heard, the barbarians practiced manscaping. The Celtic tribes, at least.

If all goes well, EB 0.8 will be released in roughly 2 weeks.

Dayve - Much as we enjoy having you around as one of the more vocal and enthusiastic EB supporters, you aren't on the team and you are definitely NOT the "official EB v.80 release spokesman". Please remove that statement from your "User Title", and try to refrain from spreading mis-information.

Dayve sometimes you do come off as being a bit "picked on" mainly due to your reputation well here we see how you acquired that reputation I can't say I will feel at all sorry for you in the future.

Don't worry Kull I don't believe him. He is not a member of the EB public group: I always check that before I read supposedly "official" EB team posts.

What? Preachy? I'm quite miffed that it was disinformation. Why don't people try and find ways of having fun that don't involve irritating other forum-goers? Perhaps they could just play the game or something instead of telling fibs about it?

I dunno, I think playing some other mods for a while is a good way to vent off built-up hype that makes one not understand internet-humour. :P

Someone saying they are a team member and that we can expect a release in two weeks is not funny to me though; it's not even "internet-humour" (which seems to be analogous to "lies", apparently). Some people rely on things said on these forums as their primary source of EB-related information, while I respect the right of the team to hold information back I don't really have time for other people muddying the waters as well.

Also, for the record, I am enjoying my current Baktrian campaign (when I can work out what governments to build...) and Caesar IV; I'm not sure what you mean about "built up hype"?

I'm never a troll on these forums, i value being a member as it's the EB forum... And since i'm PATIENTLY waiting the release of 0.8, unlike anybody else on the forums here, where else would i get info and be able to read what the EB members say?

Anyway, i was just having fun as a few people suggested, but since everyone here is a spoiled, pent up little shit who can't go 2 minutes without checking the forum or asking when the release will be, nobody saw it, but i don't really care to be honest, it wouldn't actually be the end of the world if i did get banned, i still could download it from the website when it came out.

I'll remove the title now since you're all very gullible and a little dumb and can't see the humour, even though i've been a member for probably around a year now and have somewhere around 700 posts. But do not call me a troll... I am not a troll. Sure, i got banned from totalwar.com 5 times, but that was because of the trolls there who enjoyed baiting me into an argument because they knew i had a short temper. Members like Proper Gander, who is also a member here, and immature 15 year old moderators who were also in on it, who are also members here, but don't worry about it.

I'm gonna go and play age of empires 3 now and forget EB exists for a while, then tomorrow i'll check the forum again as i do everyday... You all keep on eating coffee beans and refreshing the forums all day every 2 minutes.

I hardly think that it is unfair for EB and other forum members to ask that you do not spread erroneous information Europa Barbarorum. You personally attack those who did not find your post funny, and you say that you are not a troll?!

Perhaps there was a funny side to your post - though I myself cannot see it - but surely it is within the rights of the members of EB to ask you not to post such information and forum members to question your motives as to the writing of aforementioned post without being attacked by you.

We've had enough trouble with a couple of poster, one of whom also masqueraded as an EB member to spread erroneous release dates, and we don't want to add another to that list.

Well anybody gullible enough to take my first post as fact shouldn't even be here. In future, i'll be sure to make it absolutely clear at the end of my post whether i am joking or being serious

I also said in another thread that the new faction is going to be Nazi Germany, i'll go now and find it quickly and state that i am joking before somebody takes it seriously and bitches at me.

    (This post was entirely serious)

Different circumstances entirely! Nazi Germany is obviously a joke (or at the very least a lie, I'm not sure about its humour content), whereas, newer members to the forum or others who do not know you or your behaviour, may take the "two-weeks joke" seriously as they would have no reason not to believe you. In either case you were directly impersonating an EB member; please do not.
