    Default The RTW code...

Just out of curiosity. If for some odd reason they did release the hard coding for the RTW engine, what per say would this allow a tenacious modder to achieve in for instance, one nights work?

not much, as the souce code is largely unknown territoury for modders..getting our bearings would be difcult i guess...even for veteran programmers it would be dificult, as they wouldn't know quite well what things were, and where they are in the code...thats my opinion...

INdeed, it would take perhaps months before much of significance could be achieved. Reading other people's code can be a confusing task, as their mind works completely differently to yours. They will have some form of internal documentation in there, yet you will still have to work it out.

In addition there might still be the issue that the Modder does not know the language that is used by the CA.

What if some sort of manual were released with it?

What if a manuel were realsed AND the oringal coders decided to help you. ALso, what if you had a pack of wild horses at your disposal.

Then, how much could EB be upgraded in one fort night?

Reading source code can be compared to reading complex literature in a foreign language. Even if one were proficient in the language and internal documentation released, it would take time to slog through to code and understand it thoroughly.

According to their website, CA has approximately 70 staff. Unfortunately, that doesn't tell us how many actually worked on game development. Point is, developing the game is a major team effort.

On the otherhand, knowing for sure what hardcoded limits are might help things a bit by taking out the guess-work and time need to find what they are.
