    Default PC Gamer Review

I saw the December issue of PC Gamer (US) in my doctor's office and they have a review of Medieval 2.
    They give it 90%.

I didn't have a chance to read the review, but it's several pages with lots of pics.

gleaned from the first couple of paragraphs:

    "bigger, prettier and more addictive"
AI is very good, but can be inconsistent

perhaps someone who has the issue can give a summary.

Well the only bad things they pointed out was minor pathfinding problems and lack of naval battles.
Other then that it was praises.

    Atleast that's what I heard.

Last time that happened we got angry messages with legal chunks from the PC Gamer UK staff member who had written the article.

    Hence our 'no scans' policy.

Don't do that, the mods will lock the thread up because of copyright violations. If you have this particular issue of PC Gamer simply paraphrase the article as much as you can and post it into this thread.

LOL quote a bit of it in One post and more in the other! and then read it in sequence, what a loophole!

The ratings numbers are all rubbish anyway, they have any objective way of determining what is worth how much % points, except the reviewer's own opinion and possibly a little input from the editor (perhaps at the behest of the developer/publisher...). They are worth as much as any other literate person's opinion. The only thing these game magazines are good for are screenshots and demos in this case.

I agree the only weight reviewers have is when a collective pool is weighted and only then as a basis.

All a mag is, 12-20 people play the game, who can write well, then they write a story on what they thought. That's bottom line. There not game developers, they are not industry experts, there just columnists.

Now yes if 20 mags say the game got a 20% I would say be worrie.d But common guys this got a 90% and Rome got a 90 something %. So getting angsty about less then 9% difference in one mag, without seeing any other reveiws seems a bit out there to me. Play the demo, ask friends you trust. Then make your call. If you trust these forums wait, I personally am buying it regardless same as I did with rome, neither disappointed me. :)

I'm always dubius of magazines which give even terrible games scores of above 50%. Plus it's all so dependent on the reviewer's views. I've seen brilliant games given appauling scores and rubbish games given excellent ones. Also always worth watching where the money is coming from...
