Well that's amazing. I can't think of anything (intelligent) to add. At least "ugly Americanism" doesn't seem to be a strictly American phenomenon. I wish he would have went into more detail about Soviet influence in the post-NAZI Middle East. I have a copy of the book The World Was Going Our Way (from the Mitrokin *sp archives) which is supposed to go into great detail about anti-American/Western sentiment in the region.

Edit: And yes; the academic world has a PROFOUND impact on US intelligence. They don't call the CIA "a university at war" for nothing.
