Mafia Hosting Queue

As you may imagine, too many mafia games means little interest in each one. Some games I have seen have had voting periods last for more than a few days. Therefore (and for the sanity of the Gameroom moderator), we will have certain limits on the number of games going on at the same time: max. 1 huge game, max. 2 large games, max. 1 small game and max. 1 mini. Huge games are seldom. When a Huge Game enters the sign up phase, there will only be one large game allowed for the duration of the Huge game. Here is what the queue for games that have not yet started should look like at the moment. The ongoing games are listed above (Hosting slot: "name of the game"):

I'm unsure whether the slowness of my game was due to the small numbers (23 to start), lack of deadline or because of the number of other games running.

I'm not going to make 2 games max a rule, it seems like something we agree on so a consensus is all that's needed...after all no one wants to host a game that doesn't take off.

You can remove me from the #3 spot Silver, I'm not going to host a game until after you and Orb.

Sasaki, I think those two reasons are both accurate. The lack of a deadline has two effects: because there's no deadline in getting PM's sent in, and because there are so many roles, it necessarily takes longer for all the moves to be made. In addition, because there's no deadline in voting, and because a majority is needed to lynch, voting can go on for a long time before any decisions are made. The idea of giving everyone an interesting role was a noble one, but it needed stricter controls to make it work.

Eh, wasn't the whole point of the gameroom to have more than 2 mafia games at once?

I recognize the fact that too many games dilutes participation, but maybe you could ask people not to sign up if they're previously engaged in other games.

I'm considering starting a small 12 person game in addition to the two big games. But if people don't want to host more than 2 big games at once than an organizational queue makes sense.

I just have to figure out how to get the smaller format to work.

May I ask if you have you successfully hosted a mafia game yet? If you have then you can automatically host your large mafia game when it is your turn. Unfortunately, if you have not yet hosted a game, you have to host a mini-mafia game first.
