I have an old Geforce 2 card and no matter what I tried I couldn't get MTW to work with the latest drivers. I installed an older driver (don't remember where I got it from though) and the game ran fine.

Well there basically isn't a point keeping an old card like that updated with newer drivers anyway. You just end up with increasingly large driver packages that do nothing specific for your card and are certainly unlikely to add any new features or functionality.
Technical support peeps and documents love to tell everyone to always update to the latest driver at every available opportunity, regardless if there's any benefit, which I can't see is the case when the drivers are several years newer than the card/component in question. There are probably some exceptions to this.
My Geforce 5900XT is still using 2 year old drivers. They do the job, so why update.
Regarding crashes with Nvidia cards, aside from 2xAA, some people report (varying) success trying different screen resolutions and colour depth.

I've reported success in being able to play the campaign game itself, though the instability was too much for me to bare though. So I turned to my old computer. It went great, no crashing, stable. But my computer's hard drive's too small so I'll have to make do with just the battles for this one.Originally Posted by professorspatula
I'm guessing it's about luck or to be more correct the lack of it, neither my current comp or my last one have/had any problems with any form of MTW and both have/had Nvidia drivers.
Both Geforce.
We are all aware that the senses can be deceived, the eyes fooled. But how can we be sure our senses are not being deceived at any particular time, or even all the time? Might I just be a brain in a tank somewhere, tricked all my life into believing in the events of this world by some insane computer? And does my life gain or lose meaning based on my reaction to such solipsism?

hmm...what exactly does turning on anti-aliasing do? In both of my MTW and RTW games, it's always set to off and the games run pretty much fine. With the exception of campaign and battle lag which I think is due to my PC's mbRAM(only has 464mb RAM while my laptop has 222mbRAM).

The anti-aliasing gives the appearance of smoother images. It makes the graphics on the screen more eye-pleasing. Otherwise your images would look blocky. (Is that such a word?)Originally Posted by Seedexodus
Not sure why it's required to run a campaign game to prevent CTD and not other options in the game. Maybe the use of the map in the campaign? I just know I couldn't play a campaign without adjusting the AA.
If you are using Nvidia, keep in mind that the newer drivers, those released after the game cause crashes.
The most stable drivers for MTW are those released at the time of MTW -2004.
And these are:
61.76
61.77
and
66.93
reverting back to these drivers solved my problems.
Hope it helps
