Default Screw you Oregan, BCS and PAC-10

Whats the point of instant replay if it isn't done right?

If a team uses a replay up to correct a bad call, then they dont have any replayes left for other bad calls...

How can one conference, the Pac 10, have a rule that says only PAC 10 refs can work PAC 10 home games when no other conference has such rule?

How can a computerized BCS system take into account that OU was robbed with a minute to go in the game, when normally a simple possession and 3 knees would end the game with OU winning?

How can you look at a replay as a ref and say we are looking for X, but we also saw a bad call of Y, but we cant correct that because the reply was for X not Y, is this a grand jury hearing or Bill Clinton meshing the word "is?"

Don't get me wrong, OU was not gonna get a national title, we had no illusions of that. But the mere fact that 2 terrible, completely suspect calls that robbed the underdog visitors vs the favored home team with a minute left in the game, all while the audience, the coaches and the media voices screamed "you are wrong" tells me that something stinks. this may be college ball, but it is far from pure high school sports. This is a business.

Enjoy your win, oregan, and your inflated BCS standing thanks to the computers. Funny thing is, I'm not even a sports fan, but i root for my almor mada, and i stand up for it as well, and this was total crap ten times over.

I sympathize with you MRD. Unfortunately bad calls are part of the game and it often takes one team being screwed badly to change stupid rules.

I'm a Penn State grad & fan and last year Penn State suffered from a bad call in the Michigan game. The refs caved in to Michigan Head Coach Carr's plea to put 4 seconds back on the clock - Michigan won with 2 second left in the game. I was as pissed off then as you are now. Then, with Penn State ranked 3rd in the country even after that one loss, the BSC decided to match Penn State against 22nd ranked Florida State. While the game turned out to be exciting and the coaching matchup legendary, the game was a no-win situation for Penn State's shot at a national title. Go figure.

Unfortunately, bad calls will always be part of the game. It really sucks though when it is such a key call that it affects the outcome of the game.

they scored twice in 22 seconds, for the love of god, all because of 2 consecutive bad calls and even worse replay reviews. Also, OU got screwed last year on a call in a PAC 10 game.

Stoops initally said he was going to pull out of other PAC 10 games unless the "PAC 10 refs for PAC 10 home games" rule is changed, but he backed off most likely due to financial obligations. Funny thing is, OU fans are so ticked about this they could make up for lost contract revenue by taking ticked off OU fan donations to the universoty lol

i know im being whiney here, but the evidence is all right there on tape:

-the Oregan onside kick didnt go 10 yards
-the Oregan onside kick was touched by an Oregan player b4 it went 10 yards (the replay call was for that)
    - a pac-10 ref declared it Oregans ball, without ever looking at the Oklahoma side, despite the fact that 2 refs were still digging to find the ball and the Oklahoma player who recovered the ball was handing it to the third ref -- yet they couodnt review possession/recovery they could only review whether or not the ball went 10 yrds and who touched it, which they still got wrong
-then the pas sinterference call ont he subsequent drive was bogus, as a defender touched the ball making the reciever an viable target AND even if the ball wasnt tipped the ball still would have not been caught by the Oregan reciever AND the Oklahoma player was a good yard or two away before the ball went on its downward arc, so even by NFL standards had the ball not been tipped it still would not have been interference

also, the new clock rules are gay. Bah=double blah

how can you give each side one replay [per half, and tell them if the replay gos against them they lose a timeout, but if the replay benefits them they dont get anyumore replays? that doesnt make any sense, basically, 2 officiating mistakes means you ar screwed if you alrady used your replay to correct the first officiating mistake. thesew teams need multiple replay opportinities, especially considering the new clock rules will negate the extra time the replays add

Ah, the PAC-10. We're not all bad, you know.

But I agree, it sounds like this stinks to high heaven. Any videos or somesuch of the game online anywhere?

-the Oregan onside kick didnt go 10 yards
-the Oregan onside kick was touched by an Oregan player b4 it went 10 yards (the replay call was for that)
    - a pac-10 ref declared it Oregans ball, without ever looking at the Oklahoma side, despite the fact that 2 refs were still digging to find the ball and the Oklahoma player who recovered the ball was handing it to the third ref -- yet they couodnt review possession/recovery they could only review whether or not the ball went 10 yrds and who touched it, which they still got wrong
To clarify, Oregon screwed up on the onside kick; too short, touched too early, but Oklahoma recovered it anyway and then the refs give Oregon the ball?

Anyways, welcome to the world of being a Seattle fan.

I'm a Penn State grad & fan and last year Penn State suffered from a bad call in the Michigan game.
Really? My dad went there, and just the other day I was wearing his old t-shirt with the 1992 rose bowl and knittly (sp?) lion.

Yeah OK got hosed. But, the Pac 10 has been getting hosed for years now, just not as obviously blatant. I doubt it was intentional though, just terrible officiating.

Besides, the computer polls are only a part of the equation, the human poll (USA Today Coaches Poll) offsets the computer polls in the BCS.

Three guys came to yesterdays Oklahoma game dressed as refs, wearing dark glasses and using blind canes, with Ducks hats to boot. They were the hit of the game.

If instant replayes are going to be treated like a courtroom (well, we can only look to see if the ball went 10 yards, not who actually recovers it etc etc) then the coaches and players should be able to add to the courtroom antics. Those officials and the replay crew in the booth should have gotten more than a single game suspension, this is big business with lots of sponsorships riding on it. Not saying they should be fired, but the replay guys should really get the brunt of the punishment.

Face it, instant replay in its curretn state is an absolute joke, and this only- PAC-10-officials-at-PAC-10 home games is a load of bull.

In all fairness, the national championsip game OU played a few years ago they did not deserve to be in, as the BCS rules did something funky and screwed the team below us. Don't remember the exact situation, other than thinking "wow, we dont deserve to be here" and sure enough, we got smoked on the field. But people saw this coming for weeks before the end of the regular season. OU may not have perfromed perfectly vs Ducks, but they performed enough to win, performed enough to beat the favored team, and its not like Oregan was an unranked team that whould have been a cake walk. Oregonians are talking about OU as if OU should have been up 52-3 and therefore it was OUs fault.

Just admit it, the replay team in the booth WANTED to see Oregan recover the ball

Oh wells, enough of this, we got Texas to worry about now, and it seems to be a pretty even matchup.

    CURSE YOU, INCOMPETENT PAC-10 REFS!!!

They called a fumble recovery on a kickoff return (the football bounced off the reciever at the 5 yard line) for stupid USC, and then the reply video on the big screen TV showed to every man, woman and child in the stadium that our guy grabbed up the fumble and fell on top of it.

The entire stadium was shouting at those moronic fools.

It would've been like an onside kick, except we would have had the ball on their 5 yard line.
