B.C. 272- The SPQR are beginning to spread their imperalistic wings. To the north lies the largely unknow lands of Gaul,Brittania, and Germania. To the south lies the last city of the Epeiros, who had just recently retreated after a failed attempt to invade the penninsula. In the East lies divided factions that were once Alexander's great empire. Finally, to the west lies the empire of Carthage (note:I am calling factions by their RTW name because I can't spell and/or remember their EB names). At this time the Romanis decided to take the course of action to unite the entire Italian peninsula under its banner. The first step was to take the city of Tharsas.

(Note: I am placing this AAR in a series. The paragraph above was the Introduction).
Battle of Tharsas (winter of 272)- When the armies of Romani began to prepare the siege of the city, they were suprised to to find that the spy sent ahead had opened the gates of the city. The armie moved into formation, with the weakest unit up front to soften the initial enemy impact. The missile toops began by lobbing javelins at the enemy while the infantry moved forward. After an initial setback, the hasitia gained a foot hold in the city. The hasatia (with cavalry support) continued towards the plaza while the princeps and triarii held back so they would be frsh in case of an emergency. All was going well until the last defenders, mostly phalanxes, came forward. An ingenius cavalry flanking manuver caught the phalanxes between hasatia and equite cavaly. The battle was soon won, with Romani having 888 of their original 1187 troops while the Epeiros had only 12 of their 1028 troops left alive. The city was won,a nd was eventually fully assimilated into the Romani nation.

271-267- After the Battle of Tharsas, the army was refreshed and and ready to continue the fighting.Howver, war was put on hold. The Romani leader died soon after the battle, causing a small uproar in Roma. The uproar was quickly calmed, and the army continued towards the city of Rhegion, which was quickly beaten and captured. All seemed quite in the peninsula. The south was conquered, money was flowing into the Senate coffers, peace was reached with the Gauls (for now at least). Only one problem persisted. Carthage had a small amount of troops in the peninsula. While there was no immediate cause for alarm, it was a worry. What if a larger focre came. Something had to be done. So the small force was bribed away, and a fleet was sent to obtain an alliance to prevent further aggresion. When that failed, the army was sent to the small island of Corisca, with the idea of conquest.

Punic War-In 263, the army attacked the settlements of Alalia and Karabia (a separate army had been built and sent to help the first). Soon afterwords, the armies moved to Sicily, where the city of Lilibeo in 261, Messana in 260, and after an anti-climatic battle, Syracuse (RTW name) in 259. Sicily was in complete Romani control.

Attack on Carthage (258)-Continued Carthaganian idiocy led to the Romani army to land on the shores of the city itself.Carthage was given on last chang to surrender, but refused. And so began the attack on Carthage.

You can already tell who won, can't you.

    Battle Clips-

Please note all those red banners in the distance.

Ah, my skirmishers are killing Libyan Spearman (Carthage really does have subpar infantry).

Cavalry vs. Completelys surrounded Libyan Infantry (or I think. They died too fast for me to check).

Same as above, except in the plaza.

Over the next several months and years Romani slowly expanded in Africa. However, it would not be easy to conquer Carthage as they controled all of Africa, including the Sahara.
