Gamecenter has a profile on upcoming RTS games titled "Not dead yet". If you go to gamecenter.com, on page six, they list CA's next game as "Romans". This is not official news, but it looks like the cat has been let out of the bag. So what do you guys think? Ya or Nay?

Well if it is done properly I am all in favour of the Roman setting. But I have my doubts as to how you settle issues such as balance of power and victory objectives. In STW most of the clans had at least a chance of victory, and the victory condition was clear: conquer all of Japan. However in a Roman setting you would either begin with the Romans as the predominant power, or set the game in the early Roman period, which rules out some of the options people would like to see included.

Of course, they could always change the timescale, so that one turn equals more than one season, allowing the entire Roman period to be played, from rise to fall.

Just a guess, but early Rome was long series of battles against the tribes surrounding her. It may be a simple test of whether one can create a nation, starting from the one city.

It may be some fictionalized account of roman reunification. sort of like the japanese setting we've got now.
This gives us late-period weaponry and technology, but also enough splintered facions to build a game off of.

Or perhaps, a civil war. You know, the Romans did have their share, or more, of Sengoku Jidai -type free-for-all -events. And besides, It'd be a wonderful excuse to include all the really, really, *really* famous elements of Roman history, such as Caesar, Cassius and the Octavian/Mark Anthony/that other guy "triangle civil war."

If Shingen, Kenshin, Hideyoshi and Ieyasu had a rating of six, Caesar has seven at least!

I wonder how long before all discussion of a sequel gets put in a separate forum?

Marius deserves a seven too Anssi
    Sulla too for that matter.

Samnites, Latins, Greek states, Etruscans, Carthaginians, Macedonians, Egyptians, Numidians, Iberians, Galatians & Gauls...there's enough "clans" for a good early Rome game. Should be fun

Not sure how long it's gonna take to get it's own forum, but I know EXACTLY how long it will take for this thread to get put over in Off-Topic! LOL.

Guy's....I'm as interested in the sequel as the rest of you are, but general discussion is not the proper place for it to be discussed. I'm going to move the topic, and close the thread on general, but it will still be available for reading! (So everyone knows where to go!
