are there any good mods for this expansion?

Not many that I know of. The one I am looking forward to is Lusted's Alexandros mod - it's a major reskinning and reworking, with a new map, factions other than Alexander playable etc.

It's not done yet, but there's been a lot of progress. Here's one preview:

You heard right. Apparently, it's a challenging campaign (100 turn race), but the battles go really fast (as vanilla RTW tends to do): human phalanxes vs low morale Persians; you can imagine the outcome. The other thing that puts me off is the apparent practical requirement to exterminate every captured city. Too mean.

I would defiently look into the Alexander mod mentiones above, but before you start modding your game be sure to go into custom battle, setup india vs india, and fill the battle map with topless female archers.

The main problem with the Alexander campaign i find is that it is too fast paced. The first time i played it i actually lost because i ran out of time. What Econ21 said about exterminating cities is true, and you do have exterminate every city you conquer or they rebel. This is extremely annoying when your supply lines of troops become overextended, and you can't train any new units from nearby cities due to the small population.

Overall however, Alexander is a pretty fun game on its own, and i would recommend it to you if you are looking for a good challenge. (especially the historical battles, they are no piece of cake )
