Default Cardinal as Popes and Princesses as Queens

    Hi Everyone,

I was thinking, would it be possible to create a cardinal, send him to the Papacy in Rome and in some way be the next heir to the Pope?

Also, is it possible to make a princess be the next heir after the King dies, becoming a Queen of that faction?

I am quite sure these things cannot happen in the actual game, but, is there a way of tweaking certain files to create such instances?

I know that it is possible to edit how many female or male children may be born in a faction, but if you tweak it to create no males, when the King dies the faction is lost, loosing also the game since no male heir is available.

But, if there is someone who may give me some more information regarding such matters, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you in advance,
    Aenarion

There are certain commands and script changes that can make that possible. Although if you can wait, M2TW promises all those thing that you have mentioned to be made possible.

Hey CrossLOPER thanks for your reply!

if you can wait, M2TW promises all those thing that you have mentioned to be made possible.
That would be really great. I still have to check whether my system requirements are compatible with the game first hehe. But it would be cool if such a system could be implemented in MTW/VI.

There are certain commands and script changes that can make that possible.
Never thought it would have been very much possible heh. I guess the first start would be having a look at the startpos files and then proceed too ... ??

    Thanks,

Something similar, but not quite the same might be possible with the HRE...

Marrying princesses to your generals gives them a loyalty bonus.
If it's possible to mod the bonus to also give command stars, you could in great deal affect who the next emperor will be if the previous one died heirless. Just a random idea I didn't think out well.

I believe that the changes required will need to be extreme, but it really should not be a problem for a guy with your title, Aenarion.

I seriously doubt it. The 'pope' and the 'papacy' are two different elements. The papacy is a faction, like the HRE, that cannot be wiped out due to the faction leader dying without an heir. A new pope is always elected from one of the generals. AFAIK this cannot be modded. A cardinal is simply a religious agent, faction leaders cannot be taken from the religious agents pool, especially that of other factions. I'd say this was a source code job, and thus not possible.

As above, this deals with Agents becoming the faction leader so isn't possible (a princess is simply a free single use advanced diplomatic agent).

Thanks for that idea Kralizec! I will try and find a way to apply such stats within the script files.

    Hehehe, you said it CrossLOPER!

Good point there Caravel. Thanks for pointing this out. I guess the Papacy is an example of such hard-coded limits within MTW/VI.

As above, this deals with Agents becoming the faction leader so isn't possible (a princess is simply a free single use advanced diplomatic agent).
Therefore, can't a princess be given the same stats as a prince and not make her part of an agent thus enabling her to become the next heir if she is of age?

Thanks to all for your comments! They are greatly appreciated! Keep them coming hehe!

    Thanks,
    Aenarion

well provided it's not hardcoded you could change the tag "prince" to some sexually neutral title and add a set of female names / portraits to the respective directories. In a second move, you could remove princesses as an agent from the game altogether by raising the male birth chance to 100% (similar to Muslim factions). So you'd have princes and princesses (which would all count as princes in terms of the game)..... the title of the ruler would probably remain problematic, though, and the transitions between different generations of heirs would be less smooth (this seems to be the main effect of marrying princes to foreign princesses) - plus, you'd probably have to change quite a lot of in-game text to reflect both genders. Apart from that it would also be somewhat unhistorical to have the royal army being led into battle by the ruler's daughters, although it would maybe provide a nice flavor.

Hi Deus ret. thanks for your post. Very interesting points. I am currently trying to find all the appropriate files and text files to try and create such an heir, although it's getting quite complicated.

Indeed. That is one of the things I thought of. It would provide a different style to MTW/VI.

    Thanks,

Deus ret. describes it quite well.

You can either have an agent (Princess) which can't be an heir or a king,
or you can have a female heir which will be in a military unit from the start and can't move on the campaign map freely without waging war.
Modding this female heir would mean
    1. you always have all heirs labelled either "Princess" or "Prince" not regarding their intented gender. It's either or
    2. when changing some portraits to female they'll be randomly assigned to male heirs, too
You could mod a female hero "Queen X" and also mod the title "King" to "" so that you don't have a "King Queen X" and can assign a portrait to her, but that's about it. This also results in Kings not being named "King X" but just "X".

To sum it up, the idea you describe is not possible.
    Sorry.

Hey R'as al Ghul, thanks for further pointing out and developing the points proposed by Deus ret. This is some really helpful information. I will try to apply all this and post back what I have managed to achieve.

    Thanks,

    Hi Aenarion

I remember that at beginnings of early campaign (up to 1100 ca.) Pope can receive marriage
offers and maybe he can get married (I never tried).
If a princess succeds in marrying Pope, next step could be to kill him and claim
his dominions; but this could be possible only if Papacy extinguishes at Pope's death.
So, my absurd thought was about using that part of the script that makes Pope 'marriable'
at start, to add the remaining properties of an eliminable-inheritable faction (in that 13 years he can get married).

That could satisfy your desire to become the Pope.

    Cheers

    Hey OmarPacha,

Thanks for that idea. The way you put it, sounds like it might be possible to do such modifications. I'm still working on some files and I will add your ideas in the work.

    Thanks alot,
