Help / lost file?

I'm trying to get rid of the stupid green arrows under my troops. I've already done this before, but I had to reinstall the game. Well, now I can not find the 'preferences' text file. I've searched for it manually and by doing a search and have still not been able to find it. I have RTW gold, but have not yet installed BI or updated to 1.6. I'm at the same stage that I edited it before (I'm pretty sure).

Believe me, I feel like a complete idiot for asking about this because it is so easy, but I honestly can not find the file. :(

EDIT: Nevermind, I figured out that you have to play the game in order for the preferences file to be created.

I believe there is a DISABLE_ARROW_MARKERS = FALSE

in there, which you need to set to TRUE
