Default Could Someone Summarize Years vs. Turns in M2TW

Sorry if this one has been beaten to death already - I did state that I was "out of it for awhile" - but I need a summary of what effect the "decoupling" of years from turns will have:

    1. Will there no longer be a year reference?
    2. Will movement be governed by distance (modified by terrain) as in RTW?
    3. What else am I missing here?

    Thanks in advance.

    Barkhorn.

I don't know if anyone has this 100% clear. The best summary I've read was written by econ21 in a thread about three weeks ago, will see if I can find it...

edit: ha, funny how the mind files things. You can take a look at this thread to see a number of theories on turns and years. I had econ's post in that thread filed away as a particularly wise one, and all he says is that it makes his brain hurt I think that's a very good approach to take until we get our hands on the campaign map.

    From what I've read:

    1 TURN=2 YEARS

I don't like it, I hate gun powder.

Except for characters. And that it will be winter every second turn.

I have been out of touch with it myself, but to me it looks like this:

    - the game will cover a historical period of 450 years
    - the campaign will have 225 turns maximum (though you'll be able to play on after that)
    - characters will age by one year every two turns
    - every second turn will be a winter turn
    - the four facts above do not stand in any special relation to each other. They do neither contradict nor confirm one another, like vanilla pudding and income tax. If you think a persona's age, turns turned and years passed should have any connection, you probably do not understand this game correctly.

I think the game does not understand time.

If 4 calendar years = 2 turns = 1 character year, the game passes 4x too fast or characters age 4x too slowly.

That is unless your character is Chuck Norris. "Chuck Norris doesn’t wear a watch, HE decides what time it is."

O'Brien held up his left hand, its back towards Winston, with the thumb hidden and the four fingers extended. "How many fingers am I holding up, Winston?"
    "Four."
"And if the Party says that it is not four but five - then how many?"
maybe those guys should be doing something more useful...
