Default Peculiar video playback issue with new graphics card.

Hi fellas. This is actually more of a tech support issue than H&S discussion, but it's not related to getting a total war game to run, so I thought perhaps here was a better place than the Apothecary. Beirut can move it if he disagrees.

Anyway, here's the deal. After reading the thread in this forum on upgrades for AGP cards, I decided to buy a 7600 GT to replace my ageing Ti 4200. It arrived today, I whacked the card in the machine, installed the supplied drivers, and was away. The upgrade seemed to have gone off without a hitch, or so I though until I tried to play a video clip.

Essentially, although I can stream video in Firefox-I can watch things on YouTube, for example-I am totally unable to play either DVDs or video files in Media Player, or indeed any other video playback program-I tried PowerDVD, WinDVD 7, some freeware things I had lying around, nothing seems to work. This is rather irritating, as I don't actually own a TV at the moment, and am thus reliant on my PC for watching DVDs. DVDs spin up in the drive, and I can examine them in Explorer, but they absolutely refuse to play

I'm really a bit stumped, so any suggestions will be very much appreciated. In terms of other specs, I'm running a 2.53 GHz PIV and 512Mb of RAM. The drive I'm using is some kind of Dell DVD+RW, but as I mentioned, the drive spins up, so I don't think that's the problem. I'm running the drivers bundled with the card, which Windows tells me are 9.1.3.2, but I don't recall any Nvidia drivers with that designation, so I think it must mean 91.32.

    Thanks in advance, BKS.

This is the right place, BKS.

Get your copy of K-Lite Codec Pack from here and let us know if it helps after installing.

Might be an old driver conflicting with your new ones. Uninstall your graphics drivers, download DriverCleanerPro ( http://www.drivercleaner.net/professional.php ), boot up in safe mode and run the program in nVidia mode. Finally download the latest nVidia drivers from the website.
