What's with all this hip hop bashing? Just because what you see on TV or hear on the radio, that doesnt mean that what's hip hop really is.
Hip Hop itself has a deeper history than most ppl really think.
For 1 thing, it is not rap. I'd like to quote one famous hip hop artist, KRS-One:
"Rap is something you do, Hip Hop is something you live"
Its composed of 4 elements, breakdancing, graffiti art, emceeing (or commonly known as rapping) and turntablism (or DJing).
Essentially Hip Hop is beyong the bravado and macho postering, money, drugs and objectification of women. Thats the major label corporations fault for endorsing that negative image for Hip Hop.
Hip Hop is for expression of one's feelings, or to talk about society or the world.
Originally, it was used to escape the violence of the streets and the sorrow, but sadly Hip Hop is reciprocatinf back to what it tried to escape from.
You want real Hip Hop, listen to Blackstar, KRS-One, A Tribe Called Quest,
De La Soul, k-os, etc.
An FYI, there are many aspects of hip Hop, just like the art of Painting has many styles. There are socio-political artists, poetry in general or just straight emceeing.
There's just too many to name and too much to get into.
So before you start bashing other people's beloved music, please do the research and look into the history of it, not just ranting about this or that, cause thats just plain ignorance. And we don't want an ignorant world, do we?
This is the 21st century, not the Dark Age
