There, but for the grace of God, goes John Bradford
My aim, then, was to whip the rebels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom.
I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation.
Me likey the Americana and the Jam:
Umphrey's McGee
The Big Wu
The Freddy Jones Band
Roger Clyne and The Peacemakers
The Drive-By Truckers
The Bottle Rockets
Warren Zevon
Dwight Yoakam
Then a good bit of everything else.

But I disagree on the dancing bit. Hip hop is good for listening; reggaeton and other Latin (or Brazilian) genres are for dancing, my friend.

Can we cut out the black & white stuff please?
I'm sure Jimi Hendrix and Jimmy Page would agree that everyone from everywhere can make great music.

I'm not really a big fan of Bob, Led, or the Dead. Actually, you seem to have summed up my boundaries of musical taste perfectly there.Originally Posted by Rythmic

Actually, I think you should have mentioned Stevie Ray Vagaun instead. Or Gregg Allman. Or Jorma Kaukonen. Or John Fogerty. Or David Gilmour. And I'm not even a big fan of David Gilmour, but I think he's better than Jimmy Paige. (He can sing better, anyhow. He doesn't sing like he has his balls in a vice.)
I like:
Soft Rock
Rock
Little bit of Hip hop/Rap (some of it is good, rests I dislike)
Jazz
Fairly eclectic tastes. Though the only rap I like is Weird Al's "White and Nerdy".![]()
Some musics:
They Might be Giants
Iron Maiden
Girly Techno (like Cascada)
Weird Al, particularly his polka remixes
Ska in general, Five Iron Frenzy for #1.
There are lots of songs that I like from artists I don't really listen to otherwise. For instance, "Doubleback" by ZZ Top, because it was in Back to the Future. But I don't listen to ZZ top otherwise.
I like rock&roll, 70s pop, and country, and early rap
favorite bands:
acdc
metallica
kiss
johnny cash
the highwaymen
beatles
rolling stones
wild cherry
jimmy hendrix
iron maiden
guns&roses
twisted sister
elvis
Led Zeppelin
cant think of the rest

Punk, Pop-Punk - just generally rock music, but I can tolerate anything, as long as there isn't too much unnecessary screaming.
The Ramones
Blink-182
Sex Pistols
Death Cab for Cutie
The Libertines
Dirty Pretty Things
The Killers
The Clash
Elvis Presley
My Chemical Romance
Angels and Airwaves
Taking Back Sunday
The Strokes
Oasis
Lostprophets
... just to name a few.![]()
Symphony X
Dream Theatre
Manowar
Abyssos
Steve Vai

What's with all this hip hop bashing? Just because what you see on TV or hear on the radio, that doesnt mean that what's hip hop really is.
Hip Hop itself has a deeper history than most ppl really think.
For 1 thing, it is not rap. I'd like to quote one famous hip hop artist, KRS-One:
"Rap is something you do, Hip Hop is something you live"
Its composed of 4 elements, breakdancing, graffiti art, emceeing (or commonly known as rapping) and turntablism (or DJing).
Essentially Hip Hop is beyong the bravado and macho postering, money, drugs and objectification of women. Thats the major label corporations fault for endorsing that negative image for Hip Hop.
Hip Hop is for expression of one's feelings, or to talk about society or the world.
Originally, it was used to escape the violence of the streets and the sorrow, but sadly Hip Hop is reciprocatinf back to what it tried to escape from.
You want real Hip Hop, listen to Blackstar, KRS-One, A Tribe Called Quest,
De La Soul, k-os, etc.
An FYI, there are many aspects of hip Hop, just like the art of Painting has many styles. There are socio-political artists, poetry in general or just straight emceeing.
There's just too many to name and too much to get into.
So before you start bashing other people's beloved music, please do the research and look into the history of it, not just ranting about this or that, cause thats just plain ignorance. And we don't want an ignorant world, do we?

Thelonius Monk and other Jazz artists,
System of a Down,
Rage Against the Machine (Rock/Rap + Socio/Political Talk = Total Ownage),
Atmosphere,
Brother Ali,
K-os,
Classified,
BlackStar,
Mathematik,
Canibus,

I should go ahead and add the Moody Blues to the list; and after watching "Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid," I am starting to like Bob as well.
(Dylan, not Denver.)
Electronica.
I like the simplicity, pureness, and electronic feeling of the sounds. How they are arranged is up to the artist, and there are tons of genres; they fit moods and purposes easily.
Groovesalad when I'm doing homework, it gets me in the zone.
More energetic PvD and Tiesto stuff for clubs.
BT
Sasha
Digweed
Aphex Twin's 'mainstream' stuff
For drugs
Orbital
Dream Theater
If I want emotionally elicitive, I listen to classical
A few songs that I know of from Beethoven, Bach, and Haydn.

Agreed, the whole album is brilliant but if I had to rank songs in order of preference, Welcome To The Black Parade wouldn't place so highly.
Teenagers, however, is an absolutely fantastic song!
