Don't turn them down - turn them off!

Totally agree. With my shadows on low & unit detail on medium it was playable, but not very smooth and looked average. Turned shadows off, unit detail on high, and it flew along, smooth as silk and looked great![]()
"I request permanent reassignment to the Gallic frontier. Nay, I demand reassignment. Perhaps it is improper to say so, but I refuse to fight against the Greeks or Macedonians any more. Give my command to another, for I cannot, I will not, lead an army into battle against a civilized nation so long as the Gauls survive. I am not the young man I once was, but I swear before Jupiter Optimus Maximus that I shall see a world without Gauls before I take my final breath."
Senator Augustus Verginius
I think this is down to the number of object on the battlefield. Even on the Lowest setting where it does not generate shadows for units it still generates simple shadows for all the static objects. That means every tree, builing or haycart on the map (of which there are more than a few)...
Turning off shadows helped me with lag. But the key tweak for me was switching to Shader 1, from Shader 2. (I have a fairly low spec graphics card - Radeon 9800 Pro 128 MB). The contrast before and after was like night and day.
So, that means we should change our Radeon 9800 Pro 128 MB graphics card immediately? Cause I have the same card and the same problems...
I confess when I tried the demo with Shader 2, I decided to get a new graphics card. Then after someone recommended the Shader 1 setting, I decided it was not necessary.
So you changed your mind and decided to keep your 128 MB graphics card. According to you what will be the effect of graphics card's ram on to this game? Especially if we assume to keep our 128 MB ones, cause really I was also decided to increase it up to 256 MB at least with a new VPU.
And also could you please write me down what it should be the settings of the game for Saphire 128 MB ATI Radeon 9800 pro ?
Shader should be 1, what else?
