But if I was a mafioso then things would have started going bad when you accused me, not when you died. Therefore I can't be a mafioso, because that would break the chain.

The point is moot gentlemen, because it's only during my games.

Hey GH, in The Black Hand, I was also a mafioso.

    Sorry about that. Fixed.

    That game still confuses me.

My understanding of the situation in general was this:

There were three mafiosi and three masons; no other roles. However, one of the mafiosi was actually an undercover mason, and one of the masons was an undercover mafioso. I was the undercover mafioso pretending to be a mason, and doc_bean was the undercover mason.

I didn't know the identities of my fellow mafiosi, and they didn't know me. However, doc_bean knew the identities of the masons as well as the mafia; the only thing he didn't know was which of the masons was the undercover mafioso.

The obvious problem with this setup, of course, is the apparent power of the undercover mason. What's to stop him from simply ratting out the mafia when he already knows their identities?

The undercover mason role is not a new invention. In the party game setup, however, its power is moderated thus: at any time, the real mafia may point out the mole in their midst. If they get it right, they automatically win and the town loses. This means that the undercover mason (by whatever name the role goes) would be foolish to ever rat out his "friends", since the only way to do it is publicly and would lead to the immediate loss of his side. He must find other ways to undermine the mafia from within.

Sasaki tried to do something similar to this by telling doc_bean that if he were killed by the mafia, the game would immediately end with a mafia victory. Obviously, this would prevent him from publicly giving out information until there was only one mafioso left. However, the forum game is a bit different than the party game, and doc_bean found a way around the apparent restriction by creating a new account, allowing him to anonymously PM what he knew to the townspeople.

doc_bean omitted the masons and the mafia from his PM. However, some of the townspeople publicly quoted his PM, allowing Sasaki to get wind of what he had done. Sasaki, realizing his rules had been compromised and that the game would be effectively over if allowed to continue, ended the game.

Yep, that pretty much sums up that game.
