C'mon mate. You know the 'spain' faction is going to be a whole lot better as we get closer to 1.0. A lot is getting done on it now, but any possible uniques, more traits you and Anthony develop, getting more new units (not as many in this next batch as some factions), etc. - all of that will make the faction a lot more fun later, but some factions (if he wants to show off what all EB has done to a faction) have more done at this stage. After all, the 'spain' faction has undergone some pretty major revisions that the others haven't had to have.

Curiousity, will the first cohort textures be in the mod with .8? I noticed that they already had a description file in .74.

Hrm, then. Greece and the Olympic Games? I like the idea of playing Greece, though I was frustrated by a lack of true elites last time; albeit a long time ago. I am certainly not interested in going to the East as of yet; I am not a cavalry kind of guy.

So, Aedui/Averni/Casse or Koinon Hellenon/Epeiros/Makedonia or Carthage - did Carthage get spruced up all nice and pretty?

Not as much as the Greeks really. I just love playing with the new greek officers and with the new temporary greek generals. Freaking lovely! And we saw greek standard bearers today for the first time (maybe not in 0.8 though - will have to see). They are all quite glorious. Rob and Foot have done a great job with them. Etairos is trying to get some temporary horse blankets and one elephant one (some elephants are done) to get rid of those vanilla awful team color ones too - for the 0.8 build - but Spartan Warrior has all new horse reskins on his palette for those factions, so by 1.0 they will be changed yet again. Thankfully all these hideous vanilla remnants should be gone though for all hellenic factions for sure, and it does make a big difference I think.

Heh, reading this makes me drool over 0.8. What about the sweboz or pontos, any major unit/building changes you can tell me? :d

did you see the list of a dozen or so new sweboz units that psycho posted a while back? i don't remember what thread it was in, maybe someone else does? but a good many new units there, and a lot of changes generally i think, to the sweboz. and there will supposedly be quite a bit done for Pontos and Hayasdan, check out the eastern kingdoms preview for a couple of new units and to see the UI.

by the way, for general interest, the new UI's are awesome, and the music works soooo well in the game

I dunno, Musopticon, what you're doing is more than just putting joking words in someone's mouth, since it's Teleklos Archelaou and you're making it look like they revealed Faction Z (Europa Barbarorum's Secret Weapon?).

What about the hideous elements for the other factions?

I guess my questions are more, will all the generals (at least placeholders) be done? Will all the standard bearers be done? How about the horse blankets?

It sounds like .8 will not completely replace all the vanilla elements, is this correct?

It would just be nice to know what has, and what hasn't been replaced. Nothing ruins a battle more than an ugly vanilla unit streaking through the glory.

It's difficult to get some of these faction coordinators to go through and identify problem areas like this. And then to select and proactively push through good placeholders instead. Foot has been superb at helping us get rid of some vanilla things, and oetairos has been helping with this too for sure. But some vanilla elements will probably remain. We might be able to push through some non-vanilla stuff as placeholders, but foot was the main guy doing this, and now he's compiling the build still which is maybe the most important task of everyone's, plus FC'ing Hayasdan, plus helping out in lots of other areas too. If we only had more people like him...

Weird. So he is "compiling the build", does "the build" mean 0.8? Is that the last step before release?

Also, can we expect "hot-fixes" similar to the ones for 0.72 for bugs?

"The Annoyer" is under your name, that is interesting, you seem to do a lot of answering rather than annoying (which is more of my job, I'm sure many people see me as annoying), maybe you should be "The Answerer"?

Finally, one last thing, will night battles be included in 0.8?

Inside the mod, I bug the ever loving crap out of people. But I'm tired of the subtitle, so I'll probably change it soon.

Night battles have been set up but I don't know if we've followed through on implementing them. I think you'll have to have a general who has a trait that he prefers them, then maybe you'll get a chance that any given battle could be one fought at night. I don't think we'll have torches though lighting up the battlefield for everyone - it would just be a real night battle.

I hope the germans get a load of bonuses for this, launching some Wodánáwulfoz into an enemy army at night would be one of the most fantastic things ever to be witnessed in a TW game!

That'd be odd: XGM uses the same command, and for as far as I know this doesn't affect the info you get with FOW off.

It does. It should. At least we can see every unit in an army with the FOW off.

Well I have recently tried playing with FOW off, and you know what: those question marks still appeared everywhere.

That's strange. If you have an odd number of correct console_command toggle_perfect_spys in your scripts it should display all units.
