    Default Compagnie di Ventura

In the Italian peninsula , there where important mercenary armies called company of adventures , lead by Capitani di Ventura .... one of the moust Famous was the Bande Nere , an elite mercenary army that fought also at Pavia ....

I hope CA has deserved this fenomenon the right importance allowing armies in Italy to raise local Compagnie di Ventura .... there where some that where really strong and organized , in late times many where equipped with guns even on horse....

here a link to what I mean .....

Please CA if you didn't yet consider this.....

I've seen Free Company Men At Arms and Free Company Longbowmen in the files, I reckon that's about the best you're going to get I'm afraid.

As Machiavelli said "None of the principal states were armed with their own proper forces" at this time, so it would really be an injustice to the period to leave out the likes of Sforza and Hawkwood and their respective merry men.
But I don't think it could happen, not with the faction limits preventing the accurate representation of all the city states.
    Maybe for a mod, eh?

A cool idea could be with a script if possible that there are several mercenary Commanders or Condottieri that are hireable by the best offering ... then who offers more gets the Condottiero and all of his stack army made of severall units .... that could be a way to handle it .... then after a while unused or unpaied the contract could be considered resolved and the Condottiero and his army could be again on the market for the best offerings....

being able to recruit compelete mercenary outfits after some heavy bidding, and then having them refuse to fight before pay is raised, or simply defecting to the other side would be great( in a twisted, perverted way), but I dont see this being included in the game.

that said, it would be cool if mercs could be hired as complete combined arms companies ready to take to the field, rather than as single units.

Yes, and w/ their commanders, as some of them (Sforza, Frundsberg) were real characters.

As an abstraction, mercenary general units that could be hired in the normal way could be fun...
