Default New demo coming (Battle of Otumba)

    http://p223.ezboard.com/fshoguntotal...cID=4778.topic
    ----------------------
This is my translation of a German email I received from amazon:

"You have preordered "Medieval 2" at Amazon.de and thus obtained the right to the game demo. Unfortunately a mistake has occurred and the demo has appeared too early on the net.

As a small compensation SEGA has agreed to make a brand new demo. This is being finalised at the moment, based on the finished game und offers amongst other things a brand new battle to play.

As soon as this demo is available we will inform you and send you the password and the link for downloading it. It is expected that this mail will be sent to you on the 24th of October."

    8o 8o 8o 8o

I am pretty sure it is not a hoax, but I will ask around.

EDIT: As this demo is based on the finished game, I am almost certainly positively sure it won't require sse2

This sounds good. I haven't preordered it but I've heard that amazon is providing a demo for those who have.

Edit: German release date 10.10., demo download two days prior

Yeah, the fact that the Readme.txt of the 'officially' downloadable version called it the Special Edition, made me figure the sites were just releasing the PC gamer version & Sega allowed it to prevent/circumvent everyone getting it through unofficial channels.

I've been expecting a 2nd non-SE version to come out (or be cancelled outright due to wide availability of the SE).

Hopefully we'll get to see a custom battle without scripted AI & ability to select units/upgrades.
Or at least Auto Generated armies without scripted AI.
maybe those guys should be doing something more useful...

We need MP games without the oversimplifications required for 'good' AI.

Must be why the current demo doesnt have the different faces and suits and stuff. Hopefully this new one will be out for everyone and will have new battles

I think it's fully possible. I mean a demo is not that hard to make i would think consider the fact that not only do they have 4 weeks and our mostly done. They also have developed the code so modders seem to nto be able to crack it right away. While it might get on torrent eventually keep in mind the flood of demo ppl who got the leak was about 3 days after it as another said.

Seems possible and I hope it does, you preordered for a exclusive you should get one. I didn't preorder but I think rest of you should get something.

Why waste time on the demo, rather put finishing touches on the game itself!!!!

SSE2 is a CPU thing not Graphics

    Ahhh... Mine does

Gotta agree with this actually, particularly if its true that AI is only done in the end of development.

I mean a demo is not that hard to make
Actually, there can be a lot of coding involved.
Depends a bit on the game engine/what is being restricted

I’m angry at CA for this its not OUR fault somebody screwed over the demo release so we get a really old one them they release another one showing what the game will really be like AND THEY MAKE IT JUST FOR PEOPLE THAT HAVE ALREADY BASICLY BOUGHT IT I’m extremely annoyed and I think its completely unfair to not have it released for everyone. Thanks for nothing CA you’ve acted like a real sell-out. Bundling the demo early with that pc magazine and now making us pay again to play it. No yo mention the SEE2 thing to try and force people to buy new amds or use Intel. Smells like a payoff to me… I hate when developers I really like turn out to be corporate minded creeps…

Yeah, doesn't make any sense at all when you consider they're basically in a creative BUSINESS.

BTW Amazon don't charge until they ship, so I'm sure you could visit them if you have to, inorder to simply enquire about the new demo.

    I think you're quite right.

Sounds interesting. I haven't heard anything from Play.com about a new demo, so I guess I'll just have to get my hands on it a little bit later.

And as for the SSE2 thing, Ca have said the full game will not require SSE2, just SSE. And the 2nd demo will become available to the public about 2 days after the people who preordered get it.
