Default Will there be an option to keep the "clones"?

Has anyone heard whether the graphics options in M2TW will include the possibility of keeping the "clone armies" instead of individual men? I know it's one of the major graphical selling points of MTW but the more detail I can turn off the better the chances that my pitiful 3-year-old laptop will be able to run it and save me shelling out for that new desktop I'm trying not to buy...

Judging from the options in the demo, from memory, no. However you can turn the textures down to the point where you appear to be commanding an army of slightly different splodges of paint. But nonetheless I wouldn't bank on a three year lap top playing the game very well, sorry.

This game is really lending itself to a "oldblivion" style mod. Oldblivion modded oblivino to make it run on older PCs. IMO this could be done to m2.

Of course, I don't really care because I'm running perfect n smooth on medium :P

The revamped engine in in M2TW does not allow an easy option for clone armies, as it its relies on reconstituting multiple parts of an individual model into a final product.

If you're ambitious enough, you should however theoretically be able to go through the game's files and remove the variations by replacing their entries with all of the same information. Then, the game would render every unit the same, which might give you an increase in performance.

I say "might" because the CPU will still be dedicated to making all those "combinations," even if there is only one to make, so ultimately I think that you would gain a bit of increased performance since your graphics card doesn't have to do as much work in showing you the final products - but your processor won't gain too much since it's still going through the math.

Ok new PC time then! I'll wait till Vista comes out and hopefully by that time the price of M2TW will have dropped too

The horrific requirments for Vista might push the price of more powerful componants down too... Hopefully.

The game options needs a sky toggle. (on/off) I'm looking at the sky and getting lag. I noticed the sky movement lagging the game. And also banner animation on/off needed. (you can close it from .cfg file) No problem with the soldiers I think. That's the main lag problem imo.

    Hardly

You can run Vista with all the new flashy aero shite off,

And the requirement will then be about as steep as XP's

    i have a 3.2 p4, 1 gig of ram, a 256 radion x700 and a nice sound card

i put on no shadows and ran everything else on high with no problem in the demo battles
And when the brazen cry of achilles
Was heard among the trojans, all their hearts
Were troubled, and the full-maned horses whirled
The chariots backward, knowing griefs at hand...

It's gonna have pretty limited lifespan if it doesn't, given that most new PCs will ship with Vista within the next few months.
