Hi there. Just a quick question, which are the best type of GFX cards. I see way more PCI Express card than AGP, and many more powerful ones too, but I just want to check before purchasing anything.

Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 @ 3.16GHz
XFX Geforce 9800GTX 512mb
XFX nForce 680i SLI Motherboard
4GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2 RAM
2x Seagate Barracuda 250GB 7200RPM
Windows Vista Ultimate SP1
AGP is an older technology. PCI Express is where its at.
PCI Express is the new technology, and AGP is the old technology. PCI-Express is faster and more powerful. Now a days you will find more PCI-Express cards available on the market than AGP cards.Originally Posted by Dan.o6
Anyways, if your motherboard has an AGP slot, then it does not have a PCI-Express slot. And if your motherboard has a PCI-Express slot, then it does not have an AGP slot. So you don't really have a choice or anything regarding whether you should buy an AGP or a PCI-Express.
Well I have Geforce 6200 now and I googled it and its PCI Express so I guess sticking with PCI is the way to go. Thanks for your input, and I'll try find a reasonably priced card.

There are both AGP and PCI-Express versions of the 6200 I believe. Make sure you know for a fact which type of motherboard you have.Originally Posted by Dan.o6
Well my card is in the same type of slot as my sound card which is PCI so I'm guessing so is my gfx card.

Sound cards and video are are very different animals. Just make sure you know exactly what kind of video card, AGP or PCI-E, you have now.Originally Posted by Dan.o6
