Hi everyone! I'm thinking of installing Europa Barborum on my PC in a week or two and I just wanted to know if anyone could answer a few of my questions about it.

1. Elephants: Do they still play a major role in battles between Successor armies and are they still in the big hordes they were in in RTW Vanilla or are they in the 8-12 strong groups like they are Rome: Total Realism? Oh and are there different types like Indian, African, and Asian elephants or is their just one elephant species in the game?

2. AI: While in RTW Vanilla the ai wasn't exactly energetic the ai in the patches was pretty good in creating big empires so is EB compatible with the patches? I read that the EB crew is working on the next version of EB which will be compatible with the Rome:TW 1.5 patch.

3. Resources: In RTW Vanilla the East was really rich and I could easily get 100,000 denarii as the Seleucids(my favorite faction ) but in Rome: Total Realism and RTR: Platinum Asia is really poor and it's hard to even get 10,000 as the Seleucids or Bactria. So my question is: Is Asia still rich and valuable like in RTW Vanilla or is still really poor like in RTR?

4. Barbarian Invasion: Does Europa Barborum need anything from Barbarian Invasion because I just moved back from overseas and I'm still waiting for a lot of my stuff including Barbarian Expansion and my other games to be shipped over. I'd hate to use money on buying a game I already own so I just wanted to know if EB needs the Barbarian exe. or some other files to install and run smoothly.


I hope you guys will answer my questions as I REALLY want to try Europa Barborum . I'm currently playing a new Seleucid campaign in Rome: Total Realism Platinum but I'll probably be done in about a week. Thanks in advance everyone!

Definitely try it. Make sure, however, that you install the resources patch (info in a stickied thread), as it makes the East much richer, and far more exciting. A new patch for 1.5 (not BI) is on the way, not sure when they'll have it ready, but it'll be really good (just check out Copperhaired Beserker's Previews thread, on page 2 of the EB forum).

1- Elephants currently have vanilla placeholders, with EB stats. The elephants are somewhat weaker to represt that they weren't tanks, subsiquently I don't use them often and don't know much about them.

2- Most mods try to add tricks to make the AI smarter (EB gives them near infinate money so they are a challenge), but it is untouchable to mod and therefore a bit stupid. EB 0.7.4 (current version) only works with RTW 1.2.

3- It is hard to make money with any faction in EB (at first). Though there is a resource add-on (showing what 0.8.0 will be like) that can be downloaded. I have never tried it (I stopped playing EB just before its release).

4- EB does not require BI at all. It has been said that no version of EB will ever be built for BI.

P.S. I too am a RTR convert, though I haven't even checked their forums since they went down many months ago.

I just read over the EB site and all I can say is WHOA! There's a whole new bag I gotta learn and I'm ready, willing, and able to get started!

I read somewhere that you can recover the bodies of Alexander the Great and other legendary figures. How do you do this and are there any big bonuses for doing it?

The bonus needs to be bigger. Right now it's just an honorary title and an influence boost I think.

Olympics is one really cool thing though you'll probably like.

I love it when one of my Baktrian generals manages an olympic victory; one of those immersion things and just how nifty it is to really have an olympic victor way out there.
