You should give us more information - what games do you like? (genre, favorites, date etc.) How many games do you already own?

There are a lot of interesting games imminently coming out - Neverwinter Nights 2; Warhammer 40k: Dark Crusade and Mark of Chaos. Check them out on gamespot.com or something.

Of this year's games, Oblivion and Civ4 are both solid titles - good value and at the frontier of their genres.

Going back a couple of years, Vampire: Bloodlines and Star wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 are perhaps the two purchases I've enjoyed most.

If you want to go way back, all time greats for me would include:

    RPG: Baldurs Gate 1 & 2; Fallout 1 & 2
RPG/FPS: System Shock 2, Deus Ex
    Shooter(ish): Ghost Recon, Vietcong, Mafia
    Tactical Strategy: Jagged Alliance 2, X-Com 1
    Strategic Strategy: Panzer General 1 & 2

But to be honest, with M2TW coming out so soon, I'm not sure you'll have that much time to play other games. Maybe try Mount and Blade? A good, cheap filler.

You recall Operation Flashpoint? One or two successors will be released. A must buy imho.

Pippa Funnell: The Stud Farm Inheritance

Gripping stuff for all show jumping fans and horsey people! Mods include: 'Glue Factory Outing' where you can take all your horses which don't make the grade to the glue factory; and 'Bang! Who's for horsemeat? Beta' whereby horses who suffer a broken leg are gunned down in front of young impressionable children and later processed into horsemeat, providing a much needed boost to funds. Who said flogging a dead horse didn't have its rewards!

You didn't say what kind of games you were into so I took a random punt.

You could go with Hearts of Iron 2 or the new Doomsday.

Warhammer 40K: Dark Crusade looks promising with its continuous campaign. Warhammer Mark of Chaos looks like a TW clone in a fantasy setting, (with smaller unit sizes). Imperial Glory is sort of a Napoleonic TW, but not that good apparently.

Maybe you should just browse Gamespot, start with a TW game and use the 'similar games' feature ?

Got an xbox by any chance? Kindom under Fire is a great one, big battles and you actually get to kick some butt controlling the general. It also looks frigging amazing, is tough as nails, incredible game if you don't mind the difficulty.

And do note that this is an xbox game, not 360

If you are interested in good realistic tactical combat check out the threads about TC2M on this page, many TW vets are very satified with it.
