Do we win owt if we get the answers right?
There are times I wish they’d just ban everything- baccy and beer, burgers and bangers, and all the rest- once and for all. Instead, they creep forward one apparently tiny step at a time. It’s like being executed with a bacon slicer.

no, no material prize. you win something for yourself if you want to. I have to make these questions for my history teacher but i think they can be quite useful... i been busy for 2 hours now and learned more than i did one school for the past week.

You can answer them to help me, if you want to. You can answer them because you think it is interesting and you want to know the answers, like me.

I live in Rotterdam. And we now study philosphy and the bible yes. Weve just had Sokrates, Plato and Aristotle/Aristoteles... Now were going to study the bible. The meaning of the bible and the impact it had and still has on the course of life and the course of history. I think it is quite interesting.

Could someone help me with 5. I have His birth, His reincarnation... wederopstanding, dont know if im saying the same, and His flight to heaven... now take that literally because I dont know what it means... Hemelvaart...

Hope this helps though I do not fully understand some of your questions. Do not use my words below. Read it and put it in your own words (!):

    1. Give an explanation for the genesis that is described in the old testament.

[explanation of its content, or for its existence?]

The word Genesis comes from a Greek word meaning "beginning" or "origin". This first book of the Old Testament (or "Old Covenant" - see below) contains an account of the creation of the earth, the story of the Fall, God's communication to the earth through the Patriarchs, the beginnings of language and race. It centres on the people of the House of Israel.

Here's a breakdown of the contents in slightly more detail:

    - Creation (story of the Fall/Adam & Eve)
    - Enoch and the story of the City of Zion
    - Noah and the Flood (all flesh destroyed save 8 people)
    - Abraham, descendant of Shem son of Noah, & the Abrahamic Covenant established
    - Covenant continues through Isaac, son of Abraham, and then Jacob whose name is later changed to Israel and his sons become the heads of the Twelve Tribes of Israel
    - The Story of Joseph, son of Jacob, in Egypt

The book of Genesis was written by Moses and taken from earlier records kept by the Patriarchs (Adam, Enoch etc.). It is a religious history (accepted by a number of major religions - Christianity, Islam and Judaism).

    2. Explain what the exodus is about

An Exodus is an outgoing of people. In the Bible it is the account of the call of Moses to be a prophet and lead Israel (the descendants of those 12 Tribes mentioend above) out of bondage in Egypt to a Promised Land. Although delayed for 40 years in the Wilderness because of disobedience the Lord eventually allowed the Israelites to enter the Promised Land of Canaan (modern-day Israel).

    3. In which 2 books is the old testament explained

    Erm...not sure what you mean???

    4. What is the holy tripleness

Do you mean the Holy Trinity? If so, it is believed by some that God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost are one being of three aspects. Christians also believe (depending on the denomination) that these three are separate - that God and Jesus Christ are two separate personages.

    5. Name 3 mystical/mythical events in the life of Jesus

I believe the word is miraculous ;)

The common ones are: walking on water, turning water into wine and raising the dead and healing the sick. But the true miracles, it could be argued, were his example and the forgiveness and sacrifce he extended to all mankind.

    2 extra

    x. describe the 10 commandments of moses

Look up Exodus 20. The Ten Commandments, or Decalogue, were rules give by the Lord based on the principles of the Law of the Covenant of which the Ten Commandments were part. They can be divided into two types: those that deal with man's relationship with God and those that deal with man's relationship to his fellowman. In the New Testament they were summarised by the Lord into the commandment to love God and to love our neighbour even as ourselves. All the other laws, said he, hung upon these two great laws.

    x. give an explanation for the rules of the 10 commandments of moses

    See above.

Sorry I have not gone into detail but (a) it would be reflecting my beliefs too much and not broad enough for your needs and (b) you should do it yourself! :)

    Birth, Ressurection, Ascension?

Or his miracles? Or perhaps in the desert with the devil...
Dunno or this has been of any help to you. Seems to me you have enough answers now. Genesis is just the first book of the bible, or the Greek for 'ontstaan, begin'

Sounds like that's the Dutch for Deuterocanonical books, also known in English as the Apocrypha, which is classed as part of the Bible by Roman Catholics and the Orthodox (give or take one or two parts) but not by Protestants. If the question really translates as "In which 2 books is the old testament explained" I'm not sure the Hebrew Bible and Deuterocanonical books fit, as both are a collection of many books rather than one each.
Then again I'm not sure how to interpret the question in any way that I can think of a clear answer.

Everything's been said, but if I'd have to answer one question it would be this:
    What is the holy Trinity
The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

    The way I understand it:
The Old Testamential God is the same Father in Christianity, and who despite having created man in his own image, is strange for man and hard to reach. Man In Old Testamential times it was still required for man to live a life as sinless as possible: to adhere strictly to Mosaic law and if he sinned, repent by various rituals and making sacrifices (the root of the term "scapegoat"). Man kept turning away from God, and his vengeance was often harsh.
Jesus was sent to Earth as a sort of "bridge" between God and man. God showed his love for humanity by letting his Son die on the cross. Jesus himself said "No one comes to the Father but through me". All that was required now for salvation was to believe Jesus was the Son of God and that he died on the cross to forgive all sins. His sacrifice made the OT sacrifices redundant, and all ceremonial law was considered void from that point onward.
The Holy Spirit is the spiritual unionship of all Christians: you pray to the Father through his Son Jesus, while being filled with the Holy Spirit.

not all of christendom accepts the trinity, in fact im convinced that the first christians(jews) were extremely monotheistic, trinitarian ideas slip in later, tertullian coins the term 'trinity' in the 3rd century i believe. instead of god being thrice holy in that he is three persons sharing the same essence, he is thrice holy in his 3 relational roles to humanity. augustine stated that we dont say trinity because it is true, we sat it because we have to say something. if god exists, and he is omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient etc, then he fills all space and time, so why the need for three persons?but of course this is heresy(by the third century 'tongue talkers' had been eliminated from the mainstream church since they wanted to suck up to rome, rome likes orderliness, people jabbering isnt very orderly)interesting question i think interestingly many trinitarian signs and symbols are traceable to pagan ones, i.e. the triquetra is almost identical to the 'horns of odin'(i think thats the name anyway). of course most of christendoms symbols are borrowed from paganism, the fish(pisces,itcthys-something like that) is from the vesicles-the symbolic womb(take the tail off the fish, what do you see?)also there was no 'orthodoxy' as we know it until much time had passed, likely it was a hodgepodge of 'heterodoxies' (paul johnsons book on the history of christianity expounds more on that)

also some argue that christianity is responsible for science(according to this theory earlier cultures had technology, but not science) because in christian theology god is seen as a rational being therefore his creation can be understood. of course this theory is hotly debated, as is anything of consequence. i dont remember the ins and outs of this arguement, but there is a very good book on the subject, The Victory of Reason.

sorry this was so scattered, hope it helps
oh and i believe that there are two creation accounts in genesis,if i remember correctly they contradict one another, if you take it literally that is, could be wrong though.

oh and how were we to explain genesis? from a biblical worldview, or secular?rubbish, literal, metaphorically? i take it with a grain of salt, but i have no doubt that god created all, if everything has a beggining, then there must have been a time when nothing existed since everything has a starting point, if thats true then we shouldnt be here at all. so something must have always existed, something like that anyway, i know just enough to misquote it.

exodus is the exit of the hebrew people from egypt basically; The account of the growth of the Israelites into a people, their enslavement in Egypt, and eventual escape (1-12)
The journey from Egypt to Mount Sinai (13-18)
The formation of a covenant between Yahweh and the people, and its associated laws (19-24)
Intricate instructions for the construction of a tabernacle, priestly robes, and other ritual objects (25-31)
The episode of the golden calf, and the regiving of the law (32-34)
The construction of the tabernacle, priestly robes, and other ritual objects (35-40)

    no idea what 3 is

i dont agree with the trinity personally, ive talked to several trinitarians and they told me that its like a three leaf clover, but that begs the question, isnt it still one? i think we believe the same thing, but word it differently, augustine compared the godhead to the brain, having a will, emotion, and somthing else that slips my mind. this sounds to me like sabellianism.

just because something is a myth, doesnt mean that it cant be true,
"In common usage, myth means a falsehood — a story which many believe to be based on fact but which is not true. However, the field of mythology does not use this definition." anyway much of his like could fit this, from his birth to his ressurection.
virgin birth, ressurection, feeding multitudes would be my three

    hope these helped

fairytale-an interesting but highly implausible story

mythos-the underlying system of beliefs, esp. those dealing with supernatural forces, characteristic of a particular cultural group.

legend-story handed down by tradition from earlier times and popularly accepted as historical.

in popular usage myth generally means false, or implausible, but thats not the original meaning. or something.
