    Default Contact (Nintendo DS)

Has anyone been following this game? I believe its from the developers of Killer7.

It first grabbed my interest when it got a 9.5/10 review from Play Magazine. It looks like a pretty unique sort of RPG. Unfortunately it's been delayed a few times already- hopefully I'll be picking it up tomorrow.

No UK date yet Shame, as I'm beginning to wonder what game to get next.

I got a black DS light a bit ago to play with during my lunch hours on the days when I didn't feel like lugging one of my big heavy books in to read. I've finished Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney and nearly completed Kirby Canvas Curse. Contact sounds like it would have met my preferences; I want quirky, fun games which use the touch screen and DS features well. I was leaning towards Cooking Mama until I saw it's not out here until November. Rocket Slime Adventures has no UK date. Age of Empires is delayed and may still be buggy as heck. Now no date for Contact - I'm not doing that well.

Oh well. If you get it do give us a review. It may get a UK date …

Never heard of it, but Killer7 was one great title. The DS seems to get a lot of adventure games lately

Well, I've only gotten to play a few hours thus far- but it definitely strikes me as a unique and quirky rpg. You play yourself, a DS owner who communicates with the Professor who has made "Contact" with you. Your job is to guide Terry, the boy who has to help the Professor repair his ship and escape those that are after him. The professor normally occupies the top screen where he'll ask you questions or give you advice and Terry remains on the bottom where you control him as you play.

Character development follows the Oblivion style- you get better at the skills that you use most. There's attributes like Strength, Speed, Knowledge, ect as well as weapon skills like slashing, striking, & punching and earth, water, fire, and wind magic. There's also defensive stats vs different attacks and magic and attributes like fame, courage, and karma- although Im not really sure what they're used for yet.

Also, there are various costumes that you must find that grant Terry different abilities and stat modifiers. For example, you need the chef costume to cook foods/recipes and a water costume grants you a special water-based attack. Last is the "sticker" system, where you are granted stickers that you peel off and stick on various targets (using the stylus)- I've only seen a few so far, but their effects seem to vary widley based on what they are.
