    Default America's Army

So... I went and installed it again. I am suppressive fire. Anyone still play? If so, my tag is Nobody_Important.

(Gotta love the American ethos in this game - suppressive fire for us is something like a round every half century. Aimed.)
Don't have any aspirations - they're doomed to fail.

I'm still playing it. I go as 'Schpetzka' so if you see me give me the heads up.

I like the new version but it's really buggy, for me at least.

Suppresive fire is king so long as it's accurate. A lot of bullets at nothing do nothing. I always enjoy using the SAW in the game to pin someone down and when one of the more alert teamates around me realizes what I'm doing they flank him.

Four stage strategy from Yes, Minister:
Stage one we say nothing is going to happen.
Stage two, we say something may be about to happen, but we should do nothing about it.
Stage three, we say that maybe we should do something about it, but there's nothing we can do.
Stage four, we say maybe there was something we could have done, but it's too late now.

I've never really been too sure of this game. After all, it may look good, but ultimately its aim is a recruitment tool for the US Army...

As a german, I doubt I fit into their target group. I think most people play it for fun mostly.

Well, I also have an account.
Which I obviously didn't use a lot in the last time, maybe I will play again once I get some decent performance out of the game again as in the good old days.

    heh, show off !

I actually fired the game up again yesterday, not knowing the new version was out - so I'm going to have to patch the game up.

Currently on honour 41, not a miracle worker but I do usually win 1 versus 1 shootouts.

My ingame name is the same as my org name.

EDIT: there's no way to patch the game up to 2.7, which means I'm going to have to do a complete unistall of 2.6 and install the full 2.7 version

I've played a few hours, but not since the update came out. I found that my crappy vid card and low RAM just can't run it anymore, and since there is no chance of me getting a new computer or even new parts anytime withing the next 8 months, it will be a while...

A few details would be nice, what exactly is going wrong ?

Does it, for instance, tell you you've already got AA installed ?

EDIT: Which maps do you guys usually play, assuming you're playing with 2.7 that is.

Whatever's available reeally - and since every server seems to be either bridge or pipeline, I play a lot of bridge. Not that I'm any good though. I do quite like FLS Assault given the chance...

Had a go at the SF Co-op one. That was fun - lots of AI characters that don't do the inconvenient human thing of killing me.

    Extract? Stuff?
If it comes as a .zip there should be a single .exe installation file in it.
Also uninstall 2.6 before installing 2.7 as dutch_guy said it's not an upgrade.

Also make sure you not only uninstall 2.6, but also use regedit to delete every last bit of it. Not doing that caused my install to fail a couple of times, because the computer detected another AA 2.6 install.

Only vehicles on one map. I downloaded it and uninstalled after like 3 days.

I did wonder how they'd manage to successfully incorporate vehicles onto most maps. Especially Bridge Crossing and Urban Assault..

Well, the only map on which you can use vehicles is a new one, named; snakeplain.

It's the only map in which you can use the HMMV and the crow weaponry, and it's not even a MP map - it's a Co-op map.

So, the older map are still the same, in every way.

If the game wasn't so big, I would definitely download it again, but my computer really can't cope right now.

Oh yeah, and my system isn't good enough to do the game justice; I get banned very quickly from honour servers because my computer isn't good enough to show fog and this gives me an advantage due to greater visibility..
