    Default Mysterious deaths

I was playing as Pontus and was trying to take galatia. I had three family members in my army. The garrison sallied and attacked me.The battle was going very badly, so as a last ditch effort I concentrated on killing thier general, once he was dead I ordered my forces to withdraw. All three family members made it out safely, however their bodygaurds lost a lot of men. Once the battle was over I saved the game and quit for the day. The next day when I loaded my game up I noticed that two of my family members where missing. I thought hhhhhmmmm maybe they died in the battle and I didn't notice, however there were no alerts telling me they died during the battle or on the campaign map.So I opened up the family tree and their portraits were grayed out and it said "Died peacefuly 2something BC". Obviously there is no way to get my generals back, but perhaps other people have had this problem and this is something the EB team can fix for the next version.

    It's the bartix plague.

Well, that's pretty odd. Just in case, are you sure you haven't eaten any Mushrooms before playing the game? They weren't assassinated by any chance?

On the top of the page type 'bartix' in the google search bar and select forums and then go. Probably the first hit will answer your question.

On topic: I was wondering about some of my Carthagianian general suddenly not being in their city anymore and when I checked for them in the family tree, they showed up as 'died peacefully' a couple years earlier. Probably a RTW bug!?

This always happens in the 1.2 patch. It's fixed in the 1.5 patch - you now get alerts in the battle that you have lost a character (even when he's not the general).

Yea, but my family members didn't die in the battle. I am pretty sure because I was watching them the whole time and I made sure they made it out of the battle safely.

Hadn't your army a 'fighting to the death' icon when you started the battle?
Armies that do, and lose the battle are automatically destroyed.

I agree with cheexsta here - I would think you lost your 2 subordinate characters and didn't get messages, and that would lead to the 1.2 "died peacefully" bug.
