I'm guessing its not historical, but damn I love all that.
Big fan of Sin City, and hadn't heard of this 300 until reading this thread so Big thanks to K3nsai !
Having read the alternative thread regarding the Historical comments, I personally enjoy that which is historical, and found that thread very interesting.

I do find that I can put my historical expectations aside however to enjoy this kind of stylised version, so I feel I can get alot of my tastes quenched by this film.

Actually, that's supposedly a real quote; although as I'm no historian, I cannot personally verify its authenticity. I believe that particular line is generally attributed to a Spartan officer named Dienekes(sp?).

I still don't think I can bear to watch this movie. I envy those of you who can separate your appreciation of history from your love of entertainment, and will therefore be able to view the film on its own merits. I just don't think I'm going to be able to do the same.

What's ironic is that that I'm the same guy that loves Braveheart, despite its many historical inaccuracies.

Well at least Braveheart looks realistic and historic. It doesn't have mutants, and William Wallace doesn't fly or shoot lightning bolts.

Any way, I think this will be a good action flick, definatley worth the Special Platinum Limited Extended Directors cut 10th, 20th, 50th anniversary exclusive edition.
