Well they did overhype the show for this epsode talking about a big secret well the secret wasnt in the show itself

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Well first off they appear to be in a dome, Like how that Yacht captain just triggered a storm and had lightning hit his rod that he made. As for there being a second island its either a its either a visual deception or just a regular island they been working on.

The true spoiler if you caught it, So don't read it if you didnt catch it and want to be surprised in next weeks episode

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
In previews of next weeks episode, there is a Roswell looking alien staring down the camera lens and lock is there watching him on a video screen. I believe that was the big secret they were advertising they'd reveal in wednsdays episode

Oh and for spoiler tags I think Quid also needs to edit his quote to be in spoiler tags too, I guess I'll PM unless a mod beats him to it

My take on this is; the ‘others’ have their main base on this small island and the crash victims on the much larger island where the ‘others’ also have a mock up base.
Remember it was imperative that the ‘others’ got the sail boat from Saeed and the Korean couple to prevent them from getting to the ‘other island’.

That could be true. Actually, Jack/Sawyer/Kate got knocked out on a dock before they woke up in the village. And, the Others went straight to Sun and the boat, there's no way they could have snuck by Sayeed and Jin. Very interesting.... Still though, what was the point of hauling Sawyer up and showing him that, and what was the point of the pacemaker con? He could easily build a raft/swim from one island to the other. It wasn't that far.

I think that the Others are lying. The island they showed Sawyer is just some deserted one that can be viewed from the northernmost point of the main island. After all, it's not like the Others were always truthtellers.

Yes, the theory about the two islands (Henry calls the bigger one, where the fuselage crashed, Alcatraz) is obvious but neither the audience nor Jack/Kate/Sawyer are aware of an oversea trip so, it could be another con. Getting the sailing boat back from Sayeed etc. could also have different reasons, we still don't know for sure if you aren't able to leave the island and its surrounding waters like implied previously. We still don't know if Sayeed still has possession of the boat.
The pacemaker con was pure evil and I also fail to see its purpose because they'll never get Sawyer to trust them after that, instead he'll put more effort into escaping. Swimming over to the other island is something I belief Sawyer can do. We do know now that the conman can be conned and Sawyer was certainly impressed but that won't happen again, I guess.
I've confidence that the odd couple Mr.Eco and Locke will undertake everything to rescue their mates. Desmond also seems to be up to something, I have no idea what his experiment proves, other than that he's able to make rain. There may be an artificial bio-sphere of some kind with its own weather that one can manipulate.
Aliens? I thought the devs did say that neither Aliens nor other unrealistic elements were included into the story. Of course, what you see and what's really there are too different things. It could be part of a dream or vision again.

What's your take on the unusual happenings, like Locke being able to walk, Sun getting pregnant etc.?

But they did get past them to the boat and Sun had to defend herself. She shot the woman who later died on Jack's table.
Of course I think she was going to die anyway and it was just convenient to help Jack to a bad experience and trying to make Jack trusting them more.

No, they didn't. They climbed on the boat from the water side, not the dock side. Yes, I too wonder what's up with all the miraculous cures. It's clear that the original organization that built the facilities is playing some sort of experiment here. Maybe you're right, that the 2 islands are part of an enormous biosphere. Wasn't that all the rage in the 70s and 80s? That doesn't explain the healing properties though. I'm wondering if the whole show isn't supposed to be an 'what if' about purgatory.

There's a big problem with my purgatory theory though. It doesn't explain the hatches or the 'guardian' on the island, the column of smoke or whatever that thing is. Also, to continue the allegory, it doesn't make any sense that Mr. Eko, chosen at the onset, would be able to to fight off the angel meant to bring him to heaven. And what would be the point of the code & the computer?

A lot of viewers, including me, thought the same thing. Until the writers said in an interview that that's not the case. They also said at one point, while the second season was running, that they had no idea what the numbers (4 8 15 16 23 42) actually meant. Don't know if it was a joke but it certainly ticked me off.
What do you make of the survey station at Antarctica that recorded the hatch explosion and then called one of the others (the female interrogating Jack, also related to Desmond) on the phone while she's already on the island?

What the hell!?!?!? I only started watching Lost this summer, borrowed Season 1 on box set from my cousin, then bought season 2 when it came out to get caught up. I fell asleep one night and missed the last 10 minutes of one episode, it must have happened then. No wait, the hatch explosion was the very end of season 2, right? I missed the survey station in Antartica. Which episode was that in? And you're saying Jack's interogator & Desmond are related? Also, if these people have the ability to access the outside world (according to Henry, civilization is a boat trip away) why haven't they gone and gotten some decent medical supplies?

At the end of the last episode of season 2, when Desmond turns the key to blow the hatch up, the scene changes to two guys who are sitting somewhere in the snow, in a container that looks like a research station. They are playing chess when they realise that one of their machines senses something. After checking the report, one of them calls the woman, who later interrogates Jack, on the phone. This woman is related to Desmond, they were supposed to marry iirc but then he went on the world race with his sailing boat. I don't remember correctly but I have the impression that she knew what would happen to Desmond, ie being stuck on the island, and that she works for Dharma and they had it all planned for Desmond, as for the others.
Which brings up the question, since they know everything about the losties, why where they surprised when the plane crashed
About the medical supplies, who says they don't have any decent? For all we know the supposedly dead woman could be revived like the white rabbit. Although I doubt it.
BTW, I checked the numbers as coordinates once in google map and it turns out that four places in Pacific around the date line are plausible locations for the island. I'll post a screenshot later.
The one week breaks are driving me insane. And after episode six there'll be a break for about 2 months.

    Don,

here're the four possible locations of the island when you use the magic numbers 4 8 15 16 23 42. One can come up with more coordinate combos but the pacific seems most likely as crash site since they went from Sydney to LA.

    Latitude 4.8150 Longitude 162.3420

    Latitude 4.8150 Longitude -162.3420

    Latitude -4.8150 Longitude 162.3420

    Latitude -4.8150 Longitude -162.3420

    Will we ever know?

The Others are in a Dharma Project base on one of the small islands that surround the main one. They got there via undersea tunnels.
When the Losties crashed they were living on the East side of the island, hence how Ethan and the other guy were able to get to the crash sites so quick (possibly by tunnels?). They then moved to two camps, one at 'The Door' station (where Sayid goes on the boat) and the new island (a Dharma test facility, note: not a station, theres only 6 of those). The guy Locke etc saw on CCTV is in the Flame Station, the only one the losties havent found yet.

IIRC the location of the island was revealed on a map posted on the Dharma Initiative website, the first pic looks closest to where i remember it.

Frankly, R'as, where in the South Pacific they are doesn't really impact the storyline, for me at least. They're just out there... unless it turns out they're actually squirrelled away in Central Park or something crazy like that.....

As for this week's episode... BOOO!!!! They killed off my favorite character, before his church was done. But I was really proud of him. It's a shame whatever that thing that appeared as his brother was so awful to him though.... Oh, not alien, guy with an eyepatch...But who the hell was that, and where the hell was that...

Is it just me or is the therapist setting Jack up for a big fall. I think this is a big test. He's going to move on her suggestions, and end up screwed. I really don't care much for the Others, they have all this apriori knowledge, yet for as wise as they're supposed to be, they don't seem to understand that ignorance breeds fear and fear breeds violence.

Mr Eko is dead. That's a huge shock. I really did like him and I thought he made a good buddy for Locke. That damn smoke thing, what's it supposd to be anyway?
About Jack, I think he starts to see through their plots....but it's clear that they try to gain his trust and manipulate him.
Not satisfied with this weeks episode, especially because I've heard that Eko's departure has something to do with real life speeding tickets. LAME!

I wasn't too impressed with last night's show. Certainly wasn't worth the 3 month wait. What did you guys think?

Well, for one thing, I have to give them credit for actually answering some questions instead of making new ones.

That, and I'm glad that the main plotline of the first few episodes was resolved, albeit not fully. However, I think that perhaps the producers answered a little too much (I know, go stare at me in shock). I mean, it's kind of evident that most of the Others were, in fact, captives held by a select few, and they were probably taken due to their medical expertise. I suspect that they're going to try to fully "convert" Jack into one of them. The first step has already been taken by them agreeing to let his friends go and ridding him of the person most hostile to the crash survivors (that Pickett guy).

The Ben being Alex's father is also significant (the French lady was his mother) too. But I suspect that that won't come into play for a while.

All in all, I actually liked the episode, but am worried that in order to please the fans, the producers are going to reveal too much too quickly. But the commercial break every ten minutes was annoying.
