Hi there,
as IGN promised, they have uploaded several new movies on their site
http://pc.ign.com/objects/800/800327.html
these movies are all about battlefields, and are quite interesting : the Timurids' elephants are in a glorious charge, plus we see some units of faction we didn't know very much about, like Egypt,Scotland,....
All go check it out
cheers.

Oh man recent screenshots and videos strongly suggest the Scots are still a weird combination of half naked guys in kilts and pikemen armoured like heavy cavalry.

Check out the Naptha throwers... They should be baseball pitchers...

Yeah, ain't it great!

Nice videos and cool atmosphere!
It's odd though, how these heavy elephants are turning their whole bodies 180 degrees in less than 1/100 of a second... It may seem to be more realistic for a human body to turn quickly, but those elephants have to move a little bit slower I think.
Other than that, I like the movies. I wasn't able to play the demo at it's fullest yet, cause my computer doesn't handle it...

The last video was sped up, that's why they move faster. Its a battle replay.

Say, will it be possible to save battles and view them later in M2TW?
wraithdt 18:07 11-03-2006
Yes of course you could but I'm not sure if you could save replays from campaign games. You could do it in MTW but CA took it out for RTW for some lame reason or another. I hope this feature makes it back into M2TW for the campaign battles.

I believe Ca have said there were difficulties in coding it for the RTw engine and it woud be a buggy feature.

Which is odd because they had no problems with the custom battles.
Back to topic:
I love the videos. But I want more. More! MORE!

Sorry, I didn't realized that

It works with custom battles, why should it not work with the campaign?
Burakius 22:12 11-03-2006
Those soldiers in the elephants sure reload fast :O WOOHOOO
Custom battles maps are predefined, and are always the same. Campaign map battles can happen on any tile with a huge variety of troops, and with generals with traits etc that would have to be factored in. It's not the same as a custom battle where a player selects a map, selects some armies and clicks play, a campaign map battle has a lot more things to be featured in.

wow i cant wait to use those elephant mounted musketeers!
Nice Vids

Hey did anyone notice in the forest combat video there guys in cloaks with shields that are just punching the enemy! They have shields but no weapons! I wonder of they are priests or something and if so why they are in the middle of battle.
Burakius 10:45 11-04-2006
Didnt anyone notice that the nafta throwers dont even kill so much :S.. and in close combat they were getting slayed... hmm I dont even know if I would ever train them now :S
Furious Mental 11:02 11-04-2006
Yeah they don't look nearly as powerful as the Naptha throwers in MTW. This can probably be modded however.

Well I rather keep everything vanilla and only install patches realesed by them. So this is gonna be a problem. When the nafta 'grenades' hit them only 1 person dies per nafta. So lame

Fun stuff, I was actually looking at the Turks and I'm interested in playing as them now.
Furious Mental 07:03 11-06-2006
You're won't change one number in a text file? Ok then, suffer the vanilla settings if you must.
Incidentally another video is now available, about the different troop types (not really any new information). The faction videos from IGN are also available in high res at
www.gamearena.com.au. I believe they are publicly downloadable from that site. Other sites may well also have them.
