    but CA took it out for RTW for some lame reason or another.
    I believe Ca have said there were difficulties in coding it for the RTw engine and it woud be a buggy feature.

    Which is odd because they had no problems with the custom battles.

    It works with custom battles, why should it not work with the campaign?

    Custom battles maps are predefined, and are always the same. Campaign map battles can happen on any tile with a huge variety of troops, and with generals with traits etc that would have to be factored in. It's not the same as a custom battle where a player selects a map, selects some armies and clicks play, a campaign map battle has a lot more things to be featured in.
