Well, I am in the US at the moment and all I can say is:
It's a really cool game... :2thumbsup
Interestly while it is stand alone you still need to own (and I think have installed) DoW and DoW:WA if you want to use the old armies online. You need to enter your CD keys again too...
Being somewhat of a purist, the new expansion has several flaws that prevent me from playing it without getting frustrated. I am waiting for the DCPRO mod to come out to fix my cup of tea the way I like it!

I'm holding out for the anthology edition, which should be coming out end of november. I never bought a DoW game, but playing the demos recently (the CoH demo made me want to check DoW out again) I'm really looking forward to it![]()

Unlucky mate, the release date is now the 3rd of November :( See amazon, play.com, gamespot etc for confirmation.
I'm really liking DOW, had it for about a week or so and have already reserved DC. I don't have Winter Assault, but since Imperial Guard are at the bottom of the new Dark Crusade ladder ( http://www.dawnofwargame.com/DC_Stat...mepage.php.htm ) I don't think I'm missing much in terms of unlocking them for DC multiplay.
Btw, can any american shed any light on the fact the Orks are ahead of Space Marines and Eldar on the DC ladder? Are they much more powerful in DC?
Are you guys sure about the requirements for MP game? In the single player campaign you don't need the Winter Assault expansion to unlock the Imperial Guard, all you need is the original DoW which also unlocks the other races in DC. I am currently in the middle of a SP IG campaign in DoW:DC... pure Basilisk & Baneblade pwnage!![]()

Considering I don't play DoW MP you might want to refrain from one word accusations. All I know is you do not need the Winter Assault exp to play the IG in SP games. The only key the game has asked me for so far is the one I have from the original DoW.

You should be able to play all races in SP, even without owning DoW or WA, those just allow you to play the 5 original races in MP. No SP effects whatsoever. At least that's what I've read.

Yes, I'm sure. I believe its to try and merge stand alone expansion with the need to give customers an incentive to buy the old games and not just DC.Originally Posted by Spino
As doc bean said, singleplayer is totally stand alone, multiplayer isn't. Can you answer my question (in a skirmish, since don't play mp, are the orks much better?)
Actually Dark Crusade is already available in stores in Germany along with the Dawn of War Anthology. It has been since 26th of October.
Too bad I perordered my version at play.com, because I'm a sucker for englisch versions and now have to wait one week while it's basically sitting there right in front of me. :(

I honestly don't know about the Orks. I didn't play many matches as them or versus them in DoW skirmish games so I don't know how much better they are in DC. Sorry...Originally Posted by Monarch

Oh ok np. I just found it strange their ahead of the oh so mighty Space Marines. Still my favourite crack addicts the Chaos are at the top![]()
Anyway to keep me going just that extra week I've bought Winter Assault, only £7Pretty good but since I mostly play online only really getting the extra faction, and it so happens I suck with IG lol. Still, worth my money I think

Bumpety.
My copy came from game.net on Friday![]()
I played a few battles online with a couple of guys from RTW/BI clan. Won 1, lost 2. But I was trying Orks (I know not new, but I never play them in dow/wa) and Necrons (I had NO idea how to use them) and another guy played with Tau. Other ally in our 3v3 was IG. So we didn't have an SM or Necron, which all enemy teams did, it seems to make a difference.
Anyway on the campaign side I've started an Imperial Guard campaign. Seems pretty good so far. But not especially special, just gives the skirmishes a purpose.
