    Default uninstall/install problem

    I uninstalled rtw and deleted RTW folder. Used regcleaners to remove all trace about activion and rome total war.

    When i try to install fresh RTW i get this messege

    Error 1316. A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file
    c:\windows\installer\rome - total war(TM).msi

    I didnt find any installer folder from c:\windows even if i set invisible folders to visible..

    Any one got any clue how i can install rtw without formatting c:

    Have you tried the usual trick of restarting your computer yet? Weird errors like that have often been solved this way when someone was using Microsoft software (in this case: WINDOWS)...

    U could try
    This has been reported to occur if you rename the installation MSI file after installation, and then attempt to execute it a second time.

    Stuck? Try removing the software with the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
    http://www.appdeploy.com/tools/detail.asp?id=224

    or you could try whats described on this page:

    Website

    Copy-paste from that website: replace 'Crystal reports' with 'Rome: Total war'

    WARNING==========

    The following resolution involves editing the registry. Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall the Windows operating system. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

    For information about how to edit the registry, view the 'Changing Keys And Values' online Help topic in Registry Editor (Regedit.exe). Note that you should make a backup copy of the registry files (System.dat and User.dat on Win9x computers) before you edit the registry.

    ====================

    1. Start the Registry Editor. On the 'Start' menu, click 'Run'. Type 'Regedit' and click 'OK'.

    2. Expand the registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\Installer\Products

    3. Under the 'Products' key will be at least one unique identifier subkey with a format similar to the following:

    327B99678179ED14C88145F943C120EC

    Click on each unique identifier subkey to see the 'ProductName' in the right pane of the Registry Editor. Find the subkey whose 'ProductName' is 'Crystal Reports'.

    4. Highlight this subkey and right click it. Select 'Rename' from the drop down menu.

    For example, if the key is:

    327B99678179ED14C88145F943C120EC

    Rename this key to:

    A327B99678179ED14C88145F943C120EC

    5. Search for the following registry key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Installer\Products

    If this registry key exist repeat steps 3 and 4, otherwise close the Registry Editor and restart your computer.

    Crystal Reports 8.5 Developer Edition should now install correctly.

    or use google 'error 1316 msi'
