Default Faction got excommunicated want to reconcile

My faction got excommunicated after I attacked the Danish whom the pope said I shouldn't attack. Now I want to reconcile, but I don't know how exactly. Can someone please tell me how? Thanks.

I don't know, man. I think your faction leader has to die. Either that or figure out a way to give the Pope a happy ending.

I'm beginning to think we should stick a topic that says, "Read the Game Manual before posting questions"

send a princess or a diplomat to the pope and request reconcilliation... it'll probably cost you quite a bit. You might have to give up a large sum of money or a region. Giving the papacy regions can be an effective strategy as some nations refuse to attack the papacy.

Otherwise, kill the pope or your king, or wait a long time and be nice.

I have tried it with a diplomat. I offered two regions, plus map information in exchange for reconciliation, but the Pope didn't accept it.

I've also killed my king but two turns after that I'm still not reconciled.

    What should I do now?

That doesn't always work. Normally a new pope causes reconciliation for all excommunicated factions, but it depends upon circumstances. In my current campaign, 5 factions were excommunicated when the pope died, and 4 of them were reconciled with the new pope. Of course, the 5th one (Sicily) was at war and actively attacking the Papal States at the time, so that probably was a minor consideration.

Have you tried building priest's and churches to improve your standing? How about letting prisoners go free, al help imrpve papal standing. donating money for a few turns helps. Once your standing improves, then it is easier to seek recounciliation.
