Thread: M2TW Over Steam

    Default M2TW Over Steam

I was surprised to log on to Valve's Steam today and see an ad for Medieval 2: Total War avaliable over Steam on November 15th. It's avaliable for pre-loading now.

Just wanted to give a heads up for people who get fast downloads speeds from Steam, a group which sadly doesn't include me.

I don't have fast downloads either. I started pre-loading it too...

If they switched it on before the 15th I probably would but as it is I do not see the point...

All i can say is, while i have previously purchased games over Steam and its all gone very nicely indeed - having bought M2TW and discovered that its 2xDVD installation required 10gigs of disk space.... i'm glad i didnt try to download it.

I was tempted to "Steam it"... then I read this at SEGA.com:

    »Medieval II: Total War
    I’m having multiplayer issues.
Due to some compatibility issues with different versions of the game, some users may experience difficulties playing multiplayer games. Specifically, users with download versions of the game will temporarily not be able to play against users with DVD versions (and vice versa). Also, users with different language versions may also experience trouble.

SEGA and The Creative Assembly are working on this issue and will post an update as soon as it has been resolved. Until then, please know you should have no problems playing the single player campaign.

    Stay tuned for updates.
Deal-breaker. Same price, for half a product, AND suck up some hours of bandwidth.
Be well. Do good. Keep in touch.

I, too, pre-loaded it (I did it while I was away at class), but I didn't pay for it. The more I've been thinking about it, the more I want a hard copy. Steam works wonderfully, but for this game, I simply want the actual DVD.

And I don't play multiplayer, so that doesn't bother me.
"Its just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long the grasshopper kept burying acorns for winter while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV. Then the winter came, and the grasshopper died, and the octopus ate all his acorns and also he got a racecar. Is any of this getting through to you?"
