    Default Upgrading BIOS

I'm trying to build a new notebook. I'm looking at the ASUS S96J.
The original barebone was designed for Core Duo. However, there's a new bios that allows for Core Duo2.
I can find the S96J with the original bios for $600. or one with the new bios for $750.
Is there a way for me to flash my bios without a CPU? or should i go ahead and spend $150 extra?

I can't guarantee anything, but an unsupported CPU should still function though possibly not running at the correct speed (slower). There is no way, for the end user anyway, to flash a BIOS without actually installing a CPU and memory, and booting the system first. You could do with finding out for sure if the system will boot at all with that CPU installed.

    It's a Core 2 Duo, relax.

Core Duos were those that AMD Dual Cores had pwnt when they were out. Now that your cute monster E6600 can pwn even an AMD Fx-62.
