I'm sorrt if this is blatantly obvious but what buildings do I need to build assasins as the English ?
I know if used to be a 'cunnywarren' or brothel but I am at a loss as to what the requirements are in MTW-2

Look what these bastards have done to Wales. They've taken our coal, our water, our steel. They buy our homes and live in them for a fortnight every year. What have they given us? Absolutely nothing. We've been exploited, raped, controlled and punished by the English — and that's who you are playing this afternoon Phil Bennett's pre 1977 Rugby match speech
It's a brothel, same as in MTW. You need to build a tavern first, though.

From the original title, I thought the question was "how can I build up assassins?"[1]. My novices get very low chances to kill. In RTW, you had good chances to kill other assassins and so develop your subterfuge. What's the secret in M2TW? Just go for the softest target and with enough assassins, eventually one will take off?
[1]I've now edited the title to include my question.

I have been wondering about that as well.Originally Posted by econ21

I did kill the Scottish king though, when asked by the Scottish heir, with my 1 subterfuge killer with a 5% chance.
I think that you realistically need to be either very lucky, or build up the assassin tech tree so that your assassins are starting off with +2 or 3 subterfuge.

a 1-skill assassin has 25% chance of killing a captain, but most of the time he manages to escape after a failure so you can keep sending him over and over (and hope the target doesn't accumulate too many anti-assassin perks)
A brothel lets you build spies. Upgrading that to an inn will let you build assassins. After building a few assassins in one large city, I got an offer to establish an assassin's guild there for 1000 florins. Now in addition to the random 1-3 subterfuge all assassins begin with, each one has a +1 subterfuge due to training. I've got one good assassin so far; I had to start on captains. I couldn't kill off anything else. He's up to an 8 subterfuge now, and still going.
However, it doesn't look like you can transfer retinues around in this game, which will destroy one of my old tactics, that being to take my really good assassin and transfer his catamite/dancer/monkey over to a newly created assassin once the good one starts getting old.
Age and treachery will defeat youth and skill every time.
