Thread: transfer retinues

    Default transfer retinues

I heard from one of the threads that retinues cannot be transferred now, is this true?

if so, that's very very bad news indeed. They should certainly make it transferrable, as that is more accurate. A king should be able to pass his advisors to his prince. Can anyone confirm if they are transferrable or not?

Only certain retinues can be transfered not all. Read the manual if you have it.

the manual is extremely vague on this subject, not telling us which ones can be transferred, and which ones cannot. I am assuming that the good ones are not transferrable, the historic ones (the named ones, like archimedes in rome) cannot be transferred, while the so so and the weak ones (like bodyguard, aged retainer, priest of so and so) can be. That's kind of useless anyway, since those weak retinues are usually easy to obtain anyway.

This is probably a good thing for me. I loved transferring retinues and tweaking my best leaders in RTW, but I ended up micro-managing the hell out of all my leaders. Truth be told I've been an unrepentant micro-manager since Civ I. I never let the AI manage anything.

I guess is stops the unique retinue guys from living a couple of hundred years...

I wonder if it will be only the equipment and title type entries that can be transfered and not the people??

    I tried
    Pagan Magician
    Mercenary Captain
    Biographer
    (Brilliant?) Fool

And unless I was doing something wrong, none of them would budge. "Are you sure"
"Cannot do that" or something along those lines they said.

I'll try again when the Black Death calms down a bit. My princes are quarantined seperately at the moment.

I havent tried objects and the like yet.
    -the Assassin's Knife and such.
And the special one I had died on me before I could anticipate it.
    Maybe they'll move.

I seem to remember in RTW that you could change the behavior of retinues in the file this is mod if they could be traded. And as so much is based off RTW...

I will check on this tomorrow when my copy gets in.

    Default Swap traits in M2?

...so I can´t swap traits between generals anymore? I can move them but I can´t place them on the receiver general. What´s the max amount of traits that a gen can have?

You could change retinues in RTW? Why wasn't I aware of this?!
Anyhooo, if a character dies I assume his retinues are lost? If so you should be able to transfer them from your elderly characters to younger generals to preserve them when grandpa dies, correct?

Trading character traits is an amusing thought:
"Could you pass me your bravery trait, please? I 'll give you my womaniser one, so I can get that roaming bandit and you can have some fun..."

You CAN also transfer Apothecary, gives improved fertility (and it really works) and improved hit points IIRC.

Mohammed's Mantle, for some reason I can't transfer it, yet.
Neither could I transfer the Kaaba Lock.

The Sword of Mohammed, which was a two headed scimitar called the Zulfiqar, and should really be called so in this game for correctness, is transferable. I was able to transfer it repeatedly in the same turn. IIRC it's gives +2 or +3 command.

    Some vague-ish wiki info here:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zulfiqar

Oh and Intrepid Explorer cannot be transferred.

I always got a chuckle out of transferring the mistress in RTW.

Methinks we'll all need to wait a bit until we get the upcoming mythical patch and the unpacker that comes with it, so we can view the elusive export_vnvs and export_traits files (or whatever they are named now) and be able to get a firm picture of what's transferable. I'm counting on there being some type of flag for each trait, vnv, or groupie that states if they're moveable or not.

    Cheers!

That's a good idea. As I'm playing anyway, I'll put in what I see is transferable, so if anyone else is wondering, you can have it here. I'd sure love it if I knew already what is and isn't. :)

One more which is.... Tooth of Mohammed is transferable. +1 Piety

    EDIT:

It does'nt matter how pious you are, your idol is wrong !!!!

Mohammed's Footprint (in bronze no less) +1 Piety is transferable

A crusading general in my game as the English received the 'Veil of Veronica'- a Holy relic (+1 Piety)- and I was able to transfer it to another general.

I am willing to bet that all religious relic objects are transferable, and furthermore, that objects are generally transferable.

You can make all retinues transferable.
in the export_descr_ancillaries.txt, change "Transferable 0" to "Transferable 1".
