Only units with the 2 handed axe animation are bugged.

It's my understanding that the bug is constant. That said, 2-handers are not *entirely* useless even though they're horribly bugged. They won't work at all against cavalry (check it out sometime -- they just stand around and let themselves get whacked in melee), but they do work *sort* of in melee against infantry units I believe. I had fairly good luck as Russia charging my Woodsmen into rebel Spear Militia. My woodsmen chopped up the spears and sent them running--but when the rebel HAs entered the scrum, my woodsmen died FAST.
Can anyone else confirm/deny the efficacy of bugged 2-h units vs infantry?
they're terribile as standered, spear units have prettyu weak stats to begin with, AND they suffer penalties when fighting other infantry anyway, so...
I don't actually have the game, but I'm wondering, is there any fix for this bug? Player made or otherwise?

You need the patch first or some of the text for traits and such like will be missing, everything else in it should work fine without the patch though.

Right, Uploadline is going as they want regeristing and it's dissapered from FileFactory. The savefile link is working though.
Look at the bottom where their should be a button marked submit. above that their is a small box with a num,ber/text string next to it. type the number/text string into the box then hit submit. It'll then ask you to wait a minute or so, at which point a link marked "Download" will show up where the counter was, (look for a green strip).

yours makes pike have no secondary weapon as well, correct?
this axe bug really bums me out when i am picking faction to campaign with, i love danes but they are based around 2 handed axes. same problem with english (bad enough u got lbows instead of xbows), russia and to a lesser degree egypt![]()

Got your fixer earlier this morning, Carl -- it was an easy download (even on my crappy dialup) and an easy install. I did a custom battle with DEKs and Bills vs some cav knights just to see that it worked and now I'm trying to decide which faction to play. Now I don't have to think "I'd love to play Byzantium, but their coolest unit is broken...".
I'll be interested to see how the tweaks work in campaign. Thanks for the assistance.
