Heh, reminds me of the album cover for Carnivorous Erection.Originally Posted by Kongamato
All I have to offer are my occasional bouts of sleep paralysis. Essentially, as I understand the phenomenon (if it can be called that), I have a bad or frightening dream almost immediately after having fallen into the deeper stage of sleep. I'm aware, sometimes in a dream within a dream, of my surroundings, but I'm unable to move but incredibly slowly. My arms, legs, neck and so on respond as if I was deep in a vat of molasses. Breathing, too, is very difficult, and I often feel as though I'm suffocating. Sometimes, I'm able to maintain my composure for small periods until I manage to snap myself out of the state violently. Sometimes, I see spectres, probably created in my own mind. They can be anything from people I know, rabid animals, or merely ominous silhouettes.
I've been told that this isn't that uncommon and that some people connect it to supernatural or occult activity, particularly dealing with spirits who linger in corners. Old women are also particularly common hallucinations.
Anyway, good thread.
