Wow, nice analysis! how many hours did you already spend on the game ?
I agree with most points, but I do like the castle/city distinction. You can't rely on only a couple of fortresses to mass produce elite units, you need more to maintain a high number of elite units. In addition, you can have start by taking a safe haven in infidel land (I actually took Alep during my first crusade with the French, Krak des Chevaliers, and got the St Johns knights for that, which is historically accurate :-)

About stats, missing a 16% try 25 times in a row has a 1.28% probability, something IS broken there (either in the code, or Whacker has been cursed... and needs more inquisitors his your land !)

PS: could you really strip a guy of his title in MTW ??

    On the assassination woes:

Odds for not succeeding at all in 10 tries (at 1/3 chance of success) are about 1.7% [=(2/3)^10] - this is about 1-2 times every 10 sets of 10 tries you make. Odds for not succeeding at all in 100 tries are VERY low [=(2/3)^100)].

    This has few options:

    - code is broken and success is not possible. This is unlikely as there has been some playtesting.

    - "the dice" for each assassin is rolled beforehand (you do not need to roll for each target, merely for each assassin and adjust to the target you then try.
So if you have a 10% pre-rolled, there is no way to make 6% chance tries on that turn. It may be like this as it really does not use too much RAM...

    - some bug related to just the given incident (sometimes some conditions could trigger a bug).
Total war games played so far:
    STW, MTW, MTW:VI, RTW, MTW2, ETW, STW2

Then, no matter how many times you reload the outcome would always be the same. This is not the case.

Would it be possible that the percentage shown is an estimation, not taking into account hidden (unknown) factors (spy in a city, bodyguard in retenue...) ? That would make sense.
