Russian Tzardom

Too my knowledge, the best Russian troops in this period were the Streltsy, basically a standing army of musketeers, VAUGLY similar to the Ottoman Jassinaries. They werent very prominient at the start of this game (1550, Im assuming?), but they grew later on.

Those aside, I beleive much of the Russian military was composed of non-professional 'militia' type units. Although I understand that even at this point they liked their cannons.

I dont think that Cossacks played any major role in the Russian military scheme yet. Could your ability to recruit them be based upon the capture of specific provinces? If not, I would make a set date prior to which Cossacks could not be used.

The Tsar (the first Tsar ever ;)) right now would be Ivan IV...Im not sure if hes insane by this point though. That might affect his starting stats :P

Oh, and will Russia be able to build naval units? From what I know, they didnt bother with one until Peter the Great, and isnt he a bit out of the scope of this mod? :P

The russians shouldn't have a princess unit as they were forbidden to marry outside of the orthodox religon, which after constantinople, fell constited of just the russians.

Also an idea for a building, the russians bathed more frequently then the rest of europe. Perhaps a public bathhouse (Bagnios) would be good a good idea for a building? It could perhasp give a small cash bonus (for addmission) and a public health bonus?

Russian army

Basis of Russian army created Ivan IV who created special units – Strelcy (Стрелецы) which he used to control boyars. The way of organization, wages and accommodation of them give Strelcy status of standing army.
From the mid of XVI century great reformation started. Standing army was created towards western patterns. Mercenaries from Scotland, Sweden and Germany became command personnel of cavalry, infantry and others. Mercenaries lived in separated military areas, where they owned land. With Strelcy and Cossacks they made well equipped army. Reform was done by general Vasiliy Golitsyn in 1678.

Generally Russian army was large, lumbering with large artillery and generally well fitted for sieges.

The time between 1570 and 1700 sees many changes, reforms which later allowed Peter the Great to grasp the hegemony in Eastern Europe partly thanks to some good fortune and partly because of the new changes.

Anyway with all new reforms the army still found this time as a series of military defeats, mainly from better commanded, more mobile and possessing excellent cavalry - the armies of Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.

I'm sorry, but thats completely wrong. Russian Princesses could, and did, marry foreign men of different religions. For example there was Uliana Alexandrovna of Tver (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uliana_...drovna_of_Tver) who married the Lithuanian Grand Duke Algirdas in 1350 - who was not only not an Orthodox Christian, but a pagan!

There are numerous other examples of Russian princes marrying into Roman Catholic families (most notably, the French royal family and various German families).

Excuse me if I come off as a little abbrassive, but that statement was completely wrong.

Why would it be any different under Ivan IV?

He did not change the religion or its norms. If it happened (rather frequently) before and after his reign and there is no evidence to suggest that he (or anyone else) personally forbid the practice, then why not give the player the opportunity to use princesses?
