Well I've tried the Hotseat Mod if thats what you are referring to, the big problem being that the AI interferes in defensive battles making it virtually impossible to play them.
Other than that it worked fine, and I am hoping we will eventually see an official mod which will allow us to play the entire game in Hotseat mode.

I thought the new patch fully enabled this function.
Reinvent the British and you get a global finance center, edible food and better service. Reinvent the French and you may just get more Germans.

Funnily enough I just read that in the 1.2 Official patch notes and came back to add a note to my previous post.Originally Posted by Vladimir

Just read it again and I get the impression that Hotseat is not fully implemented but can be accessed via the command line. Hopefully, the release notes will explain how to do this as I've never used the command line feature before.

Ok! installed 1.2. Hotseat definately does not appear on the Multi-player menu (still only LAN/ONLINE) so I need to find out how to invoke a hotseat game using the command line. Anyone actually tried this yet?

I think ~ usually traditionally brings up the command console, but I have no idea what one types to activate HotSeat.
This is a feature I am really looking forward too, so I hope it is accessible in some fashion in this patch!
Epistolary Richard posted the method on this recently when showing how to advance moves automatically.
I have been playing hotseat because I wanted to advance to turn ~100 before starting with a weak faction. This was implemented by adding lines to cfg file, then some console commands.
It works well in 1.2 official except when you are attacked by the ai its always auto resolved. Its still playable , in fact it makes it harder as you have to always fight offensive battles and make sure that you will win auto resolve defensive battles.
Nevertheless it would be better if it was fully implemented. It is possible that a further tweaking of console/cfg commands would fix this but I don't know how.

Thanks for the tip and the link.Originally Posted by Razor1952
Must admit I was dissappointed to hear that the patch still leaves the player unable to play his own defensive battles. It was possible to play Hotseat on that basis before the patch so I'm a bit puzzled as to what exactly the patch does to improve things.
